With advances in technology and especially artificial intelligence how much longer can religion as we know it now survive?
It seems the big topics at hand now, at least in American Christian society, are stem cell research, cloning, abortion, death penalty, gay marriage, and of course a few other things.
How long can Christianity hold high public opinion with these concerns to the religion growing away from their favor?

Next what happens about the debate of whether or not AI has a soul? Where does the soul live? If you replace a living, naturally born human piece by piece with microchips and metal parts until 100% conversion where is the soul?

This is just an example I am trying to use to portray my belief that as civilization advances religion will be left behind due to being unable to answer such question or have a reasonable explanation.
What are your opinions?

Nothing can remain unchanged. The religion as we know must change. In all religions there will be resistance to change. The die-hards would like to preserve the ancient wisdom and resist induction of modern thought. The person who quoted Galeleo disproved the church highlights a point. Religion directs people in a philosophical direction. There may be many myths on which this directive may be based. As popular wisdom grows, religious views on these would cease. People would still follow a philosophy for the vague and unknown.
You are also talking of the replacement of parts of people by machines. This is too far into the future. Time alone can tell how our views will change.

This is a great subject. First I believe in a higher power, something created all this. But us as humans, we can't conceive what it is. So we created our region's. But with today's modern technology and science, it's hard to believe people would still believe in the readings from these ancient times. Religion is the cause of many wars, including the dilemma the western world and the Muslim world are in today. It's actually ridiculous. If us, as a human species can get over all these fanatic views, maybe we could get along well enough to be a strong species and achieve greater things.

The Bible says there will be a general apostasy before the appearance of the Antichrist (2 Thessalonians). What you described (the weakening of Religion) will be a fulfilment of that prophecy. That apostasy is taking place right now.
The Bible has many contradictions and errors. But when it comes to matters concerning our salvation it is inerrant. (Catholic Church teaching)
What makes me believe that the Bible is the true word of God is the fact that not a single prophecy in the Bible has been proven wrong.

Galileo disproved the teachings of the church. The church still survived because it was selling heaven; better than hitting the lottery and it doesn't even cost a buck.

I have not heard from anyone that has hit the church's lottery.
