Laws vary from state to state. Depends upon the state you're in.

They should have given you some sort of paperwork when they impounded your car with some sort of information I would think. If not, contact your attorney, if you have one. If not, contact the police.

In some states - you don't get the car back. Like I said, depends on the state.

The system you refer to is ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) which works automatically in the police car and reads number plates of the vehicles that the camera can see. This can be while the police car is parked or being driven. The police officer doesn't have to do anything as it just keeps checking the number plates and compares them to the database listing every car's status for tax insurance and MOT or stolen etc. It alerts the police officer if there is a problem and the officer may or may not act on it or have the system turned on. Not worth taking a risk running without insurance as the fine, and impounding of the vehicle are bad enough but having to pay for the even higher insurance premium is an added pain as you will have a conviction for driving without insurance! The police don't let you off with a warning as they might do if you have a broken bulb.

To get your car back, you will have to...
1.) Bring proof of insurance and registration to the police station.

2.)Since your suspended, you'll have to bring 2 other friends with you that both have a valid driver's license.

3.)They'll give you a slip, and you'll take it to the towing company, and have your friend drive your vehicle back for you.

To get unsupsended...
1.) Find out why you were suspended, possibly unpaid speeding ticket.

2.) If so, pay ticket.

3.) If you've been suspended for a long time, they may require you to take another driving written exam and eye test.

You will have to get insurance and be able to show proof and you will have to take care of your license suspension. Which means that you can get your car back, but you will not be able to drive it home because your license is suspended. YOu will also have to pay for towing and storage fees. Be prepared to pay out a lot of money to take care of this problem.

First of all you wont see you car for 30 day's, that's a 30 day impound offense. that will cost you at least a grand to get it back, fines, towing, and storage fees. then they wont give back until you show proof of insurance, and who would insure a car to a un-licensed driver, your are rightfully screwed.

Go online & find a really cheap policy. After that you can get your car & license back. You may want to try getting a quote online. I am paying less than ½ of what I was before.

Take care,

you have to take Proof of Insurance, any licensed driver and proof of ownership to the police station that impounded your car. They have to release your vehicle first. Then, you go to the impound lot and have to pay the tow fee and the impound fee.

I think you pay the fines, pay the towing Co. and then follow the Laws like the rest of us have too. It's really kinda simple. Unless your broke like me LOL.

Hopefully you won't get it back. You should be kept off the roads for a long time.

It's probably at a towing company, you have to pay them to get it back, you may have to have it towed home, if it's not legally driveable.
