Dont use Q tips, they push the dead skin cells and wax in further. Pull the top part of your ear upwards to open the ear canal when you are in the shower and let the water do the job. Never use a direct stream of water, it will damage your eardrum. If you have hair in the outer canal, use a tweezers to remove it.

You only need ear wax remover if you have not cleaned your ear canals for years. If you swim regularly you wont need to clean them. If you clean your ears too often it causes your body to produce more wax, Once a month is often enough unless you work in a dusty area.

Based on information from my doctor and ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat Specialist) a few years ago a few drops of olive or baby oil should do the trick. If the ear is already tender from cleaning try warming the oil in a spoon over a match or even over a hot cup of water. Use a dropper to drop oil into ear, lie down on one side so that it settles in the ear. This can be done daily or as needed.

Another method is to actually visit your doctor for a regular cleaning. If it is really bad the doctor may recommend you to the ENT. The ENT removed a huge ball of wax from my daughter's s ear. I could not believe the size. My daughter was unable to hear from one ear. The wax was so big it clogged her ear. We thought it was closer to the end but it almost filled her ear. The ENT said it happens to many but may never cause damage just a nuisance and temporary earring loss.

I use the baby oil method and it works great. Hope this helps.

Buy a ear cleaning kit at your drug store or from Walmart. It has the solution drops you put in your ear and the cleansing bulb. Very safe and effective. My husband uses it all the time because he refuses to clean it with a cue tip. You can cleanse the outer part of your ear with a cue tip without damaging the inside as well. Just don't stick it in too far! You could seriously do some damage. Good luck!

You should never stick anything in your ear whatsoever !!! The best way to clean your ears is with a rolled up piece of cotton wool. You should only clean the outside ear and never venture into the canal. If you are struggling to hear or find it itchy you should go and see your doctor and they will give you the best advice on how to do it. You may need them cleaned by syringe and water completely pain free i promise !!! Ears looking at you !!!

Don't use cotton tipped ear buds this can push wax further into the ear and also cause infection. Use a ear cleaning kit from the chemist or olive oil to loosen the wax and then the ears will self clean. Ears normally do this anyway. If you have compacted wax see your doctor to have it syringed.

only clean off the wax, that could be visible... ie, that has reached to the outside of your ear... just slide your finger around the external auditory meatus (ear opening) and clean the wax there... Otherwise, the wax inside the ear tunnel is needed for protection...
Cotton swabs are actually not good...

Use Q-Tips, just dont go into your ear more than 1/2 inch, if you go slow you should be able to tell when it starts to feel like your getting too close to the eardrum.

My doctor said: when you are showering, pull your earlobe slightly while pointing your ear at the stream of warm water. This opens up your ear canal and lets the warm water flush it out.
