I was in a store parking lot and was hit by an uninsured / unlicensed 15 year old while I was in my vehicle. I was given the correct name of the driver and her mother along with a license plate number of the vehicle but the rest of the contact information turned out to be false/outdated. There was over $3000 in damage to my vehicle. I didn't have uninsured motorist coverage so my insurance company wont deal with it and I can't take them to small claims court because I don't know where they are. Is there any way to resolve this? It just makes me angry that a 15 year old can cause that much damage and give false information and get away with it. What can I do?

I did call the police to try to file a report and the officere that responded said that a report can not be filed because it was in a parking lot. Parking lot to busisnesses are considered private property. That is why the the police want othing to do with it and refuse to help in any way. I also tried the DMV ad they can not give out information unless I get some kind of warrent for it. I cant get a warrent untill i go to court, I can't go to court until I locate the person that hit my car. Yeah, it's a crapy situation.

uninsured motorist doesn't cover your car, it only covers occupants of your car for medical payments
give the info to your insurance company, let them repair your car and they will go after the girl and her mother

Well, of course there are laws that protect you. The laws say someone must have a license and insurance to be on the road.
But im assuming what you are really asking is... is there a way to get your money back from the at fault party.
Well, again, yes, in thoery there is. You file a police report.. and let them investigate and try to find the at fault parties insurance (or if they dont have insurance- atleast their information so you can take them to small claims court)
Now, if you know theres no way to find the owner of the vehicle information (for example- if you dont have the license plate/real name of the driver/etc) then of course theres nothing more that can be done... what would you expect?

The uninsured and underinsured covers injury not damage to the car. If you do not have collision then you would need to collect through the other persons policy under there property damage. Since they damaged your property. You need to report this to the police as a hit & run. Ask the police to look up the insurance company code it is 3 numbers with that you will be able to contact that persons insurance company and start the ball rolling to get your car fixed.

You didnt get a police report? If you did then, due to the amount of damage done, they would have been required to complete a State Accident Report form in addition to their regular police report and they should have run the other car's plates as well as have gotten mom's address and info from her driver's license. However, if you werent smart enough to do that, then I can only hope you got the other car's license plate then you can go to the DMV office and obtain their info that way. Otherwise, you're SOL.

If your insurance does not cover the damage caused by uninsured third party, your only option is to file a civil law suit which may not be worth the effort if the the guy has no money. Legally, his parents are responsible for his actions but if they can't pay... you are out of luck.

Did you call the police when this happened? If you didn't, I think you are in the wrong too for not calling the police. If you called the police, then they should be able to find the parents and make them pay for the damage.

well I hope you dont live in Michigan because there are alot of laws that will protect the minor child and none that will hold the parent liable for his/her actions! Look up the name online to see if you can find an adress... if you do go straight to your lawyer and sue her parents for damages. I hope you have the police report and a really good lawyr...................if nothing works out in court....... go drop bait minnows down their cars heater vents!!!!!!!!

If your insurance is nice, they can help you locate their info using the correct tag info.
