she has a bad case of the shakes and when i looked at her thingy it has a clear slimy discharge on it but only enough to show a shininess to it....she doesnt lay on her side too much moslty on her belly he is huge...and you barely have to touch her nipples and milk comes out....if she lays beside you you can feel pups moving and kicking...her vulva is swollen and that it looks like it did when she was in heat
he whimpers quietly but doesnt pant or anything like that...she licks herslef the odd time. she wont eat her food but will eat treats and human food. does that help any....i would add a photo but i dont think ican....

they started lastnight earlier today, she just rolls in a ball and sleeps...her contractions are hard at first then soft moments later. she isnt panting she isnt doing anything like that she just drinks water and eats treats. she is laying on her side making a very quiet ear piecding whimper out.... kinda like she is breathing heavey and it squeels very so softly
i dont know fi that makes sense. shaking, sometimes like crazy like she has been outside for like 2 days and she was freezing and then she just does it every couple seconds. hard then hard then soft
but she has been shaking for like 3 days now
anything else feel free to ask

im so confused all i want to know if she is gonna be soon or another week or so
im worried about my dog...and want to be there when she has them. im her mom and i will be there for her...no different than if my daughter were to have a baby....

Stage 1

Temperature will drop to 98 degrees or so...
Eyes will dilate
She will stare at you and want you near
Refusal to eat
Hide under your bed or a dark place
Laying on her side but can't seem to get comfortable
Mucus Discharge

Stage 2 - pre labor

Digging
Shivering
Panting
Staring at her rear end
Licking vulva excessively
Mild Uterine Contractions

Stage 3 - Labor

Hard Uterine Contractions
Extreme Shivering
Water Breaking
Grunting and pushing
Visible sign of the First pup and delivery (Whelp)
Note # If the Dam is pushing and grunting and crying out in pain
that lasts for over an hour with no visible pup,
you maybe in trouble.
This is when you need to search your gut.
Ask yourself, How do you feel?
Do you feel you are safe or in trouble.
Go by your gut instinct.
Read the Dams signs, her body is talking to you.
She is probably safe if she is napping between contractions,
but if is she becoming exhausted from constant pushing and straining,
if she appears close to collapse you maybe in trouble?
She is telling you something is wrong and a puppy maybe to large to pass thru her pelvis.
If you feel you are in trouble. Call your Vet and get ready to seek help.

Her temperature will drop to between 97 and 98 degrees. The discharge you are seeing is normal. My Shih Tzu just had her first litter of pups on the 29th of January and she had all the same symptoms. We just watched her closely and gave her time. More than likely she will stop eating a few hours to a day before she goes into active labor. Try to give her some water or some milk. Also, if you think she conceived around the first part of December then it is usually 63 days. So she should be ready anytime. If you think she is in any kind of distress, take her to your local vet and they can do an xray to see how big the pups are. It is possible that they are too big for her to have naturally. Hope this helps.

Could be that she's having some complications. My aunt's dog was in a similiar situation and she had to take her to a vet to help get the puppies out, unfortunately not all of them lived:( You might want to take her in and get her looked at. Good luck and Congrats!

My son was concerned as you are when his doggie was having pups. We ended up bringing her to the vet to make sure what was happening and in case she might have needed help delivering. But all turned out ok. bettyk

Well, if you know her approximate conception date...dogs are pregnant for 60-63 days. If you can see the pups move, then she is close but it would be too hard to say exactly when due without knowing conception date. If she seems to be in distress, get her to a vet somewhere immediately.

My dog was in labor for 24 hours, same symptoms your dog is going through. Someone told me just be patient and let it happen. I was with my girl for 20 hours, when I finally went to bed, she gave birth, I guess she just wanted to be left alone. Good Luck.

dogs are pregnate for 63 days. you can check her temperature, and when it drops below 102 degrees she'll have the pups within 24 hours! for sure!! GOOD LUCK

When did these signs first start? How often and when did you see the contractions? Have you noticed her "nesting"? Have you taken her temperature (rectally)? Do you know what she bred with? How old is she? I'll try to help more if you can give me a little more info.

So, what happens when an inexperienced person decides they want to breed? Dead mother or dead puppies.

Call your Vet and get some advice from them.
