I am in the 'pushed away/reject' group as being a child, and still am. To this day my mom refuses to hug me or show any affection. My father was the same way, he passed some time ago. However, my siblings and nephew and nieces were praised and talked affectionally about.
The reasoning for this raising of mine was because I am not my father's child, and I am born a female, so I was a total mistake. My mom tried to get rid of me while I was still inside her, that's why my face is messed up. Not too messed up, but kind of disfigured. I was repeatedly told I was retarded and other degrading names. I believed it, Even married an ex that treated me the same way, until I met my husband. I graduated college with a 4.0 gpa.
Anywhoo. I have always wondered how does it feel to be loved by your parents?
I am raising a toddler (Grandson) and I love him everyday. He is so happy, when he sees me he squeals and starts waving like crazy. He is my Great Nephew, but we call him Grandson.

I believe that you answered your own question while you were asking it! If you've always wondered what loving parents are like, turn on a video camera, or borrow/buy/rent one, record yourself with your toddler and then rewind and sit down to watch what a loving parent is like.
History has doomed us to never forget it's stagnant presence in our present lives...but with a little help from our past, our past hurts will heal and help us give better than we got.
Your a loving parent! Sorry that your parents weren't as giving as I'm sure your toddler KNOWS you are!

I am so sorry to hear your story. I can't imagine parents not loving their children. You want to know what it is like to have loving parent, love your grandson with all that you have and make him feel special and that love will be returned to you and then you will know what loving parents are all about. As far as you face being a little disfigured, don't worry about it.. You sound beautiful and look at yourself as that. If you have children, show them all the love you can. Always protect and praise them and have GOD in your life. GOD knows you are beautiful inside and out. I wish you much happiness in your future.

My mom is not good at hugging. I had to hug her first and she always stiffens up. She was never hugged as a child either. My dad and I never hugged until I moved away. Then when I came back to visit I got to finally hug him. But they both loved me, I always knew that. My parents showed their love through gifts, praise and teasing.
It sounds like you still have the need to be loved even though you are in a relationship. It sounds like it is not doing the trick.
Make sure to give YOUR kids lots of hugs and kisses. You don't want them to feel they are missing something in their lives.

i do not imagine it really is a favourite, yet there are some mum and dad who perceive with one baby extra effective than something else. i'm presently studying a e book in the present day about a boy who became abducted at age 7. the daddy admits that the 7yr old became his "puppy" as he observed as him. Him & his spouse had 5 youthful ones in all. The 7yr old became his little shadow and pal. They did each little thing collectively. yet interior the e book he obviously says he's not his widespread, in basic terms his pal. Him & his different son clashed via personalities that were an same. My youngest is my purely son. So I regularly toddler him more effective than my women.

My growing up years were the same. I was raised by my grandparents and I was not her fav and she told me daily.
The only thing that I can say is you have to let it go and raise you son differently.
All I wanted to be growing up was a Mother because I never had one. I didnt know what kind of a mother I wanted to be but I DID know how I DIDNT want to be and and I have two wonderful children that proves to me every day that I did it right. That sounds like that is what you are doing.
Keep it up and Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The love you feel for your grandson, soak it up, that is the bond you have been missing. I was given up for adoption and never agin found that love until I had my own two girls. Unconditional love will heal your heart.
