Well the church and religon are seperate topics. The church is an organization which attempts to make people feel special. As long as they can reinforce the delusion that nothing bad will ever happen to them, they get to take people's money, and gain another sheep to vote for their political views. So it's a two way street where both ends get what they want.
Religon is a philosophy to search for a higher power, faith, and the meaning of life.
While one is a pure and a worthy concept to puruse the other is semicorrupt with money, politics, crusades, torturing heathens and malesting little boys....

The answer to this question is best answered by looking into the lives of the 5% that do not identify with any particular religion. I have found that those that lack God in their lives usually fill that void with some other spiritualistic endeavour,IE: witchcraft, vampyrism, earth worship, alien worship, satanism (church of satan does not believe in God or satan, other than mythologically). Even profound self absorption into ones career is at times an attempt to fill a Godless void. I believe people work harder at maintaining atheism and sustaining faithless lifestyles than they do maintaining faith in the Almighty.

in my opinion, i see that people really need to look at themselves rather than to fall back upon religion as being the definition of who they are.
i also find so many people that go to church or thump the bible or determine that their identity is, simply because they are affiliated with a certain religion, are hypocrites. they go to the church, give the church an offering, then go home to drink and sometimes beat up their families. what good is religion doing for such monsters?
i do not seek my identity out via religion. if others want to, then that is up to them. but i really would enjoy it if people looked at themselves in the mirror more often, to examine their behavior, to determine whether they are righteous as they so think.

I do not know about the exact figures, but it reinforces their beliefs to be amongst those who follow the same religion,

As your name states we were all born with the desire to seek and follow truth.
Therefore they have found truth in religion and church.
I pray for those who have not found the ONLY truth, that is Jesus is the Son of God..

I think 95% is a pretty high estimate. The churchgoers are just a lot more vocal and PC than those of us that know that there is no God.

They lack the courage to overcome the fear of questioning th all knowing figure who was here before us....If I was to believe in a GOD, I would have no choice but to call myself GOD
