So telling, Aztec, that you take a silly question so seriously. But, to answer you, we're.. ahem.. still evolving, honey.

You can barely scratch your own back with those short arms of yours. The rest of us especially those who practice yoga can do all sorts of marvels with our body.
Intelligent design did not work in your case...

I'm not sure which branch of humanity you hail from, but the humanbeings in my world have long ago mastered the art of back scratching. Perhaps you should attempt to remove your knuckles from the ground and stand erect first (this having nothing to do with your reproductive abilities, in case you were confused). Don't misunderstand. As a human, I deplore our limited capabilities...and yet we remain masters of our planet. This in itself screams omnipotent intervention. In other words, "God has our back". Lighten up baby....it's all good.

I am ultra-flexible, hyper-mobile joints. The back scratching thing is moot in my life. However, people with hyper-mobile joints are more prone to conditions of degeneration such as arthritis.

He who joyfully marches in rank and file has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would suffice.

No, that would be a biased question.

So how does not being able to scratch our backs make us "fittest" to evolve? Wouldn't back scratchers have the advantage? We should be extinct!
