you don't understand, we want be covered in blood literally, he used his blood as a stand in sacrifice and spiritually we are covered by the action of him giving his life for us, he bled and die for us so we could except what he did and believe that he is the son of God, and God sent him to do this for us, to clear up the curse that Adam put on us when he turned his power of being in control of the earth to the devil, and the only way to get it back was God had to come back and take the power from Satan and he could only do it by walking on the earth, but he couldn't in his form as God so he sent his son, because God cant stand sin and if he had come on earth at the time he would have had to destroy the world because of its sinfulness....so Jesus was born as a human, became the sacrificial lamb like when in Moses time the death that God sent to Faro, to kill the first born, and the ones that believed in God had to put lambs blood over the doors and around the frame to show they were covered by the blood , and the death angel would pass over them, the ones not covered by the blood on the doors were killed...this is basically the same. You must believe to be saved from death
