Hey criticizing and intolerance runs both ways.

Criticizing is when an atheist hates any etched written ten commandments in any court room in the nation that have been there for many years. Intolerance is when the atheist makes a federal case out of it to wipe off any mention of God on the buildings of America's governmental legal system.

That would be the line between debate and the galllows, talking and the inquisition. Religious intolerance exists only when someone in power stops you from exercising your religion or punishes you for exercising it. Other people wanting you to keep your religion to yourself and other people pointing out that your religion is a collection of fairy tales from many cultures is not intolerance. It hurts you not at all. It might make you think, but all to the good.

The word "intolerance" is a buzz word used by people who want to bully you into a coral of political correctness. It's okay to ignore them and the word.

Use your own judgment. You're safe.

I have no problem with people voicing criticism of things I believe in, as long as I am allowed to respond.

Unfortunately, people who don't accept the atheistic world view are increasingly being censored in the public arena.

Critizing is just saying you don't agree with it and then explaing in an intelligent way why you don't. It doesn't include slurs & insults. When you're intolerant, you think you're somehow superior and have to belittle others and bully them until they submit to what you think. It rarely works but people keep trying.

Because Christianity in the USA is associated with intolerance (against gays, abortion, atheists, etc.) and most "red" states are both Christian and supportive of e.g. Bush and his godforsaken war, I do criticize that aspect of religion.

I don't know.
Somewhere between "I don't agree", and "I'm going to mount an enduring campaign to slander you, destroy your places of worship, vilify you, and forcibly convert you by any means wherever possible". (By You, I also mean your religion, faith, or beliefs).
Maybe I'm oversimplifying it.
I'm sure one man's burning hatred is another man's mere annoyance.
