Honestly no That 100 hundred watts is divided up among the 5 speakers totaling 20 watts per speaker 20 X 5 =100 or 5 divided into 100 = 20. now if the audience is to remain quite they can hear the audio signal BUT if its a party you will need alot of power. If you want 100 watts blasting out each of the 5 speakers you will need a 500 watt amplifier (asuming that the speakers will handle 100 watts a piece ) Its easer to have 4 speakers rather than 5 that way the amp will divide the remaining 100 watts . (100 divided by 4 = 25 ) into the 4 speakers totaling 125 watts per speaker. Your amp wont have to work as hard . You can tell if its over worked by how hot it gets. The amp will get fairly warm during use but thats normal If you can smell a funny elecrtical sent in the air the amp its over heating and will shortly burn out and become useless .

dB is short for decibel. The decibel unit is commonly used to measure sound levels.
60 dB is about the sound level of the inside of an office or restaurant.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decibel#Examples
A home surround sound stereo isn't even any good for ambient music in a room that size with 200 people, unless mono sound is an option, or all 5 speakers are placed close together. (And the result will still be poor.)
You will definitely want to borrow, or rent a PA system. For talking any decent PA system will work. If you want to play music & reach the sound levels of a dance club (about 100dB) with bass in the music you'll need a professional PA system.

Depends on what you want to use the sound for, just as a background, or for actual music playing. For the latter, it wont be enough, I suggest getting a better sound set up, for just ambiance, it might be, although I would not go for anything under 450-600 watts.

suggest you have a chat with. someone who knows exactly, what can be done, because your sound system, you are talking about, will sort of fade out due to the ROOM VOLUME {SIZE} i'm no expert, but some people would NOT hear a blessed thing, specially if having hearing trouble! YOU, got a compagny. that is called SOUND ON STAGE, if not look in phonebook, for your version

if you just want ambient music to refine the chatting noise, that'll be fine. but the system won't be enough to create a club sound or a decent theatre sound. check if your system reaches 60 db at mid-volume. :)
