In a previous question I asked why don't christians keep the 4th commandment, seeing as the commandment explicitly says to rest on the SEVENTH day, which is Saturday, not Sunday...

The best biblical answer seemed to be 'Paul's' verse in Collossians 2:16-17, saying, "let no one pass judgment any more over a Sabbath..."
I was happy with the answers to that, so I'm not asking the same thing again...

Yet, if 'Paul' has now made the fourth commandment irrelevant, why still have the 'Ten' Commandments?
Why do christians still push for the Ten Commandments to be displayed in US court houses?

Why not just the Nine?

I still haven't seen any answers from someone who actually thinks the fourth commandment is irrelevant (as I came across in the previous question mentioned earlier) - as to why it shouldn't be removed from the ten.

The 10 Commandments were commanded by God. Not 9. Many do not follow any of them but that doesn't change the fact that God has 10. I don't really care if it's displayed in court houses or not. Displaying them isn't going to make anyone follow them. I can read them in my Bible. I think I have been in a courthouse once when I was a little kid so why should I care what's displayed there?

Because God Commanded Moses to write down the Ten Commandment's in the old testament's. Not nine, and that is why some of us as Christians choose to continue to live by the Ten Commandment's. There will never be nine commandments in our religion. So you can stop asking us that question. Nothing you ask us can change our mind. It was written in the Holy Bible and so nothing will change our mind's.

And colossians is spelled with one 1 L not two in the Christian Bible.

Christians who push for the 10 commandments to be displayed are not near as concerned with the obedience of those commandments as to the political statement that is made by the display thereof.

This is a political fight not a spiritual/biblical one. My faith is not weakened or sadden when the 10 commandments is removed from a court house. Of course I would like to see our Judges, and political leaders to be followers of the Word. Yet a plague in itself with not assure that. This again is a political fight to try to keep religion as much a part of the government as possible. 25 years from now they will say that homebred terrorism is a result of people removing the ten commandments just like how they say that school shootings are a result of taking prayer out of school.

P.S. I am a Christian.

If you read carefully in Exodus 19, you will see that the 10 commandments was the beginning of God laying down the means by which people could become his "treasured possesion." Whenever you read the New Testament you ssee that those who are his "treasured possesion" are those who are in Christ. The very thing that substains this grace relationship has changed from laws and stipulations to faith in Christ. Faith in Christ is not void of these laws, for in Christ these laws are fulfilled. That is how we are his "treasured possesion."

This can be clearly seen when you study the phrase "treasured possesion" in the Bible.

first of all, Paul did not make the fourt commandment irrelevant, Jesus did. the reason the sabbath is 'irrelevant' in the context of a saturday rest is that Jesus has freed us from the burden of 'the law.' we no longer have to obey the Jewish law and are in a way continually experiencing a sabbath rest at all times, resting from obeying the jewish law, which Jesus fulfilled. we are to honor God every day, not just once a week. read hebrews chapters 3-5 and do some studying specifically on chapter 4 for further clarification.
in that context, the 4th commandment is not irrelevant. just the opposite, it is expanded to make every day the sabbath for us to rest in God's salvation. that is why there is 10 commandments. every day is blessed and consecrated. hope that helps

I think you are misunderstanding the verse.

It makes much more sense that he is talking about letting no court trials occur upon a sabbath day.

Although it might be considered to not pass judgement on our fellow man in a more general way as well. Basically you shouldn't be getting angry at each other on the sabbath.

Then that commandment is still important.

There are actually only two commandments from Jesus.

Love one another.

Share the good news.

Have you ever been behind the scenes at a church? There is a LOT of work to be done to make a church service go off without a hitch. I never got to REST while at church...so I guess my real day of rest was Saturday afterall. God really will not be mocked, huh?

We are not to add to nor take away from the Word of God. That's why!!! But, all those religions out there that feel "threatened" by the way God's Bible is explained through the Christian belief, they are the ones trying to wipe us off the face of the earth. Look around you..it is NOT a Christian who is trying to remove the Ten Commandments, the motto of America 'In God We Trust'... but those who are threatened are the ones trying to take the steps to erase God the Creator from our way of life.

Whether you believe it or not, America was founded upon the Bible. To all who came from foreign lands... to make America a better place for them self and family... I challenge you to leave your old ways in your native land... and accept the ways of America. If you can't, then return to your native country and pick up where you left off.

If you were born here.. then shame on you for trying to remove God from our soil, from our schools, work place, and homes.

You and only you will be accountable for your actions. When you stand before God Almighty on that day... you will not be able to say ... but God... they made me do it.. they made me believe the way I believe. You and only you will be standing in judgment.. a judgment that will determine your destiny.

Well, Jesus already said that he's come up with two commandments to replace all the other law - and it is to love God with all your heart and to love your neighbor as you love yourself. James, Christ's brother, further amplified this is his angry response to Paul's destruction of Christ's message. James wrote, If your brother comes to you hungry and you say to him Jesus is Lord and send him on his way, what have you done for him? Nothing.

The ten commandments were just traveling instructions for getting that band across the desert.

those that don't word each and each of the commandments are no longer genuine Christians. you may no longer persist with a number of Christs teachings and contact your self a Christian. you will desire to stay with all of them

Paul did not make the 4th commandment irrelevant.

(It's no surprise that your question is strange based on a poorly formed conclusion like this.)
