If we can't give life to anyone, have we got the right to take their life?

There are numerous other foods which are rich in proteins and other nutritients. Is it justified to kill animals for eating their flesh?

I believe it is unnecessary to kill animals for consumption. Animals were placed on this planet WITH us, not FOR us. I survive just fine being a vegetarian. Cosuming meat is not necessary for survival. I suppose if one must eat meat, take into consideration the method of which it is killed. There are "cruelty" meat products. Free range, organic, whatever. Plus there are some tasty soy products out there, i.e. Boca, Morningstar, etc

It's biblical. So yes it's OK to eat meat. God put them here for our use. They are not like humans. What good are chickens if we can't eat their eggs or eat them. What purpose would they serve. Each and everything on earth serves a purpose. Cats and dogs are domesticated. They can have some communication with humans and can be of service to humans with their companionship and dogs for protection too. Cows would not serve a purpose either if they were not used for food. They do nothing but eat grass, drink water and crap. I would not want to kill any animals but if there wasn't anyone else to do it I guess I would. I don't want to see anything suffer either but most of these animals don't suffer. Animals that are in the wild are brutally murdered by other animals all the time but at least on a farm they are given the good life until that day comes. What about fish? Do you have a problem with eating fish too? Jesus and his disciples ate fish.

I agree the manner in which many animals are slaughtered is disgusting which is why I don't buy meat from supermarkets.

But, critters are not human beings. I do agree that they should be treated much better and that folks ought to have more respect for wildlife. As long as the creature is killed in a humane way and has lived a good life, I can see eating it (maybe). However, in order for that to happen you'd basically have to raise it yourself to ensure this.

Most people nowadays do not have a real idea where their food comes from they are so disconnected from the Earth. If you really want more people to stop spending money to support the meat markets, take them to where the raise and butcher the animals. If that doesn't make you sick nothing will.

We are human. We are just as justified in enjoying meat as a cheetah killing a gazelle. Barbaric, I don't think so. Maybe natural is a better word, although we don't kill them naturally. Now some animals that we kill shouldn't be killed, i.e. endangered ones. I love animals actually but it's just natural for many of us to prefer meat. Now when I see a vegetarian lion protesting in savannah, then I may rethink my answer. I understand your feelings, but life is brutal. Perhaps we have become too civilized.

Plants are alive, and they even get scared and freaked out when someone is hurting them (scientific studies have proved it) so isn't it just as brutal to kill them as it is to kill an animal. Yanking a carrot out of the ground and cutting it into little pieces is just as brutal as taking a chicken from its coop and ringing its head off. The death of a life form is the death of a life form. Do you think that carrot deserved to live less than that chicken did? Just because plants aren't as similar to us as animals, doesn't mean that they have any less of a right to live than animals do. People have to eat to live, and since we have to eat things that have been alive, maybe we should just do it in a humane and respectful way and stop trying to avoid eating food that our omnivorous bodies need to be optimally healthy. In other words, let go of the guilt and just eat the chicken already; your body needs it and so does every body else's!

Actually God did tell peter to kill and eat any animal on earth(Acts 10:9-15) . Animals are here for our use and that does including eating them(Genesis 1:26). Animals are different from man because God gave us a soul and a spirit, whereas animals just have a spirit.

You MUST remember that if you were on this earth hundred's of years ago you would have been forced to eat in the wild. You would not of had a choice. So then you would have been thanking God that he gave you animals to eat. We now have a choice but it doesn't take away from the fact that our ancestors ate meat and survived that way. It's unfortunate though that some places choose to be so brutal about the manner in which they slaughter their meat.

God created all life. some refer to it as the circle of life.
Man eats animal, animal eats grass, Man dies and becomes grass (after a manner of speaking) Animal eats grass.
Each animal or insect was created for a specific task.
We are to eat meat sparingly and with thanksgiving! Indians thank the animal for giving it's life that they might eat!
If we eat a balanced diet of living food, - Fresh veggies & fruits, cheese products, nuts ect. We really don't need much meat.
But we have become acustomed to eating allott of meat (dead food) in our diets because in pioneer days sometimes that was all they had!

Animals aren't human beings, but human beings are animals. Tell bears and lions and raccoons to stop eating other animals. If you don't want to eat animals that's fine but the real issue is the industrialization of the meat industry. I think we should go back to our roots and if people want to eat meat don't knock it they just have to be willing to go out and earn their meat the proper way, and hunt without guns, like the rest of the animal kingdom.

No I would never call a pig a human maybe vice versa....
So stop the animals from eating meat first ! And don't listen when your friends the human vegetables scream as they are devoured in my salad before they are even dead.
