...that all the people who killed in the name of God wouldn't have killed if they didn't believe in God? It seems these people were harboring some deep mental illness, and I'm not saying people kill in the name of atheism, but it's not like atheists haven't committed genocide in the past. It's not only God-believing people who commit genocide.

No, people kill for god. When have atheist killed let alone comitted genocide? Besides religion, nationalism is the only other route i can think of that people use to do mass killings. Also defense, but the aggresser is using one of the two methods above for reasoning. Either way it is an illogical feeling that stirs the masses into a frenzy of death and hate. Atheism and common sense are the only true path, believe in yourself.

No guarantee. Many religious people have killed in the name of religion (remember 9/11). No one has been killed by atheists in the name of atheism, although many have been killed by both for reasons having nothing to do with religion.

No. There definitely is no guarantee that people that did not believe in God would not kill, because, in my opinion, people kill as a human nature. Once the space gets too tight on our planet our subconcience clicks like a time bomb, and psychopaths that think that it is okay to kill someone just because that someone dropped a spoon on the floor while they were doing their dishes. or even for no reason at all.

Stalin, Pol Pot, Kim Jon, Mao, all Atheists, all committed genocide and mass murder. All outlawed church, and killed those that attended in secret. you base this on what you believe, not the facts.
check the jail population alone for facts.....over 90% go in as atheists. religious people kill? huh...I think the facts speak otherwise.
And to say they did in the past.....look at how many killed religious people....its over 20 to 1. Get the facts....then you'll look intelligent.
