I went through the same thing when I was going to get my puppy. Keep your grades up, your room clean, and do all your chores without being asked more than once. Look up your local animal shelter on the internet and find out the price of a cat from there. They usually have kittens. If you get all the information together, and your parents see how dedicated you are, they will most likely see that you are ready. Oh! Make a list of the things you would need and their average cost so that they have an idea of how much they would have to spend to make their child happy! Basically do everything right for a week and then start to bring up getting a cat. Don't stop keeping everything up once you get the cat though because then your parents will feel played.

Cats are a big responsibility. Litter box must be cleaned regularly, no more than 2 days waiting (some cat's can ruin a dinner after a visit, as our Bianca does), or they will find other places to take care of business. Feeding,if it's like our cats, they'd eat all day (one will eat so much she gets sick, not fun to clean up if you have a weak stomach),set a regular feasible schedule even if the cats beg, and they will.
Remember, dogs come when they are called, cats will come if they are interested. If you want to cuddle, the cat may not. The cat will snuggle on their own terms and that's the law of the cat.

Cats are cool! How do you show your parents you are responsible enough to have any pet? Pets are a chore. Make sure you do all your chores and without your parents having to bug you about them and then they will see your responsibility. Keep your room clean and do your homework. Pets cost money. How much money does it take to feed a cat every day for a month? Do you know? What is the cost of litter and how much will you need a month? Figure out how much it's going to cost your parent's a month in $ to care for you cat. Pets take time. Are you home enough to spend time with your pet and take care of them? Are you willing to take the time to feed them every day and keep the litter box clean?

Why don't you do some research on cats and how to care for them. Find some web sites that explain everything about cats, print things out on cat care and cat behavior. Put them all together in a nice neat folder and show it to them and tell them you've done your research, and you feel that you are ready for the responsibility of cat ownership. This way, they will take notice of your knowledge and maturity, and also you will find out everything you need to know about cats. And when you do start looking for a kitty, please go to your local pet shelters! So many homeless animals need good homes. A shelter pet is a friend for life!

I can see your very kin of having a cat. It seem like you need a trade off from your parents! Start proving to them that you are able to take good care of yourself first? Next your family, try helping your mum to do some house works. If you can't take of yourself and family than how can you take care of your cat? Your have to treat it like a baby, just like your mum care for you. you can't leave them unattended when you are not happy. Which your mum never will? And your cat must not cause any in convenience to your family and your neighbors? If I'm your parent, I'll say ...going a head,we'll get once after only if you can prove to me you can take can of your self? Otherwies, I would never know that my girl had aready grown up! Before you get one? Check up the web for more knowledge about cats! Here's one........

Don't beg, be mature when asking cause parents get fed up somtimes. First show that you can do other chore like things, such as keeping your room clean, staying good in school(that includes grades!!!), helping out more, don't complain when asked to do stuff. and remember that if they allow you to get one, they can always take it away, so keep the promises you say. like when you say ur going to clean up after them and stuff, you have too. my parents are sooo close to geting rid of our two cats because I'm not so good at taking care of them. depending on how generious your parents are, you might end up paying for the cats supplies (food, shots, cat litter, and so on.) So save up. if you still think you can keep it all up, go for it and try to get the cat of your dreams. And remember DON'T BEG!!! But the truth is, its all worth it if you get just the right cat.

Cats can live over 20 years. Consider this, once you are done with High School and want to go off to college in 5 years, who is going to be stuck taking care of that cat? Most likely, your parents.
Once you adopt a pet, you are obligated to care for it for it's entire life. I have 2 cats myself. Here's some costs you need to consider...
Cat litter (Crystal, not clay) is around 13$ a bag. One bag lasts around a month. Cat food. You'll spend 15-25$ a month on it. Vets....I knew a woman that took her cat in for Chemotherapy. It cost her over $5,000. Routine vet visits can cost 50-100$.
When your an adult, you can make the choice on your own. Until then, respect your parents wishes.

Simple . . . just tell them that you don't own cats . . .cats own you . . .
Keep the litter box clean and the cat fed and watered, and the cat will take care of the rest . . .
