How long can one begin brushing with toothpaste after having all 4 impacted wisdom teeth removed? Also, is mouthwash recommended and if so, what kind/brand?

I have just been brushing with water and rinsing/syringing with salt water as I didn't want to get toothpaste in the sockets.

I just had a wisdom tooth removed about 2 weeks ago. It's okay to use toothpaste, just be very gentle in the area of the socket. I asked my oral surgeon about mouthwash & she said it actually inhibits healing, so wait to use mouthwash for a few weeks. She also said not to use products like Orajel or Anbusol because they inhibit healing as well.

Yes, that is the clot... leave it there or you will have a "dry socket" which is very painful. It should be safe to use toothpaste... just rinse really well after.

keep rinsing your mouth out with salt water, for approx, 2 wk,s as your gums start to heal, mouth wash is OK ,but remember it has alcohol in it and it might burn or sting.
