Some Christians will say, "You KNOW that God exists but you pretend He doesn't." And then some atheists will say, "You KNOW that God doesn't exist but you pretend He does." I'm sorry when did people become mind readers?

All my kidding aside, you are right, so often people posture needlessly.
If God did create life, why do believers need to taunt non-believers?
If life came about by evolution, why do it's followers feel the emptiness of life without baiting the creationists?
Both sides come off as intolerant, foolish chowder heads.

The whole, Creation/Evolution debate is a horse that has been kicked into oblivion.

I'm speaking in very general terms but...

Like old warriors that have been in the ring for about a million times we think we pretty much do have to know what each other thinks and we spar, box, brawl, scuffle, or kick,or wrestle in kind. We've pretty much fought every which way you can for quite a few centuries.

This fight has been around for as long as man has been in existence. Before it was just between the different views of god or religions. Then man gained more knowledge of the earth and tried to divorce religion entirely from the debate but with little success. Why? Because man has the capacity for belief or faith. And that can never be driven out of human nature. It is intrinsic in human nature to want to believe. Belief in something is a personal choice. It is deep within the person. And once inside it is very hard to get out.

Man, I know what you mean! People are selfish-- unfortunately, that's the problem with us and why we need a perfect God in our unperfect lives. BUT... anyone can make anything an absolute... the way Christians and athiests alike can do with their opinions. Noone is a mind reader in this situation, mostly... but people have a hard time expressing their personal beliefs without flying off the handle. Good luck with people like this!

It's not a matter of mind reading. It's a matter of fact: they are BOTH wrong. NO ONE KNOWS.

I am so sick of having to say this. WE. DO. NOT. KNOW. No one knows. No one has this knowledge in either direction. It is an unknown. If you say you "know," you are lying. The ONLY truth is that we do not know.

That's why, as an agnostic, I look at the arguing between both sides with deep sadness. It is a pointless argument that cannot be won by either side. Can't we focus on solvable problems instead, and leave individuals to their own beliefs????!

You'll notice it's never the other way around - atheists only say that IN RESPONSE to the first, ridiculous claim, to make it obvious how ridiculous it really is.

Unfortunately some people miss it completely.

We become egocentric because we are human. This seems to be a tendency of birth. That is why babies cry until they get what they want. Its engrained in us.

Both Christians and Atheists are human.... sadly that means we can be stupid sometimes.
