I think you have to use the following formula

R = 1 - (1 - 1/T ) ^ n

n being 50 years and R being 10%

but then I get T = 475, seems high. hmmmmmm

I think you would have a better response to your question if you took the time to rephrase your headline. It doesn't inspire an answer - only a reaction. Surely something an earthquake-watcher wishes to avoid?

My reaction is:
"No, it matters only to you. I'm not studying geology. I'd like to, but I can't afford to. Plus I don't know what the word "exceedence" means. I don't need to know this. You do."
That's unfriendly, and not useful to you. But if you need a real shortcut, 'phone any bookie. They'll expertly cite you the odds, impersonally.

OK - It's considered rude to order people of all cultures and ages to respond instantly; when they have not paid to study earthquakes or students who want others to do their research.

It's also rude to use digits "any 1" to count people in a community. Even an online community resents being summarised as a total figure. You can write "5 million bacteria" but not "I have 4 friends". It is politer and more tactful to write "I have four friends". {Any 1} is fine in a text to your friends if they're alright with that. I wouldn't care for it - it reads like "I've forgotten your name and don't care who reads this". That might not be true of you, but it does sound that way, and is uninspiring and impersonal to anyone who might otherwise be prepared and willing to help you out a lot over your time here.

It's not a friendly way to invite members of a global community to drop their own problems and help you to research or answer your question. Exclamation marks (!!!) were called "screamers" by printers 200 years ago. Enough screaming.

Sorry, I don't understand the question so I'm afraid I can't answer it. Good luck!
