You really loved this person while you were dating and it was a bad breakup. It's been a couple years since the break up and you have spoken since. Your conversations have been friendly, but there has been some odd tension. Would you reply or ignore them?

Do you hate him?

If not, connect with him at least enough to left him
know that you appreciated the apology.

I'd ignore. When in doubt, do nothing. Plus, it's too little, too late. I don't buy that heartfelt apology crap years after the fact. It's possible to be regretful but I also believe in leaving the past in the past. Just my opinion though :)

well see it this way..had they truly loved you they would have tried to work out the differences between you two...not it seems a bit odd that after a while they want you again...dont give someone another chance especially with dealing with hearts...the heart isn't a toy that can be thrown around...it just seems as if your ex is trying to manipulate you through emotions...dont let yourself drown in deceit...see through it

If you have no intention of getting back together with the ex, then I would merely ignore the entire thing.

Depends on what he did to you. if it wasn't that bad, then so answer him, but if was bad like he cheated on you or something then no do not forgive him.

because if you do forgive him he will do it again. I've seen like a million girls forgive there boyfriend for something really bad to them, and forgiven there boyfriend, and then they did the same thing to them again.

Send your ex a two word response. "Thank you" and then go about living the rest of your life without the person.

If you don't have any feelings for him I don't see a problem with it. You don't have to say I forgive you but you can say you appreciate it.
