Sleeping helps to relax your and body.It helps your brain relax (i.e.not to stop working)and clear the thinking area of your brain be prepared for next days work and taking in information.While we are sleeping our brain go into subconcious state and crunch the information that you recived through out the day and refreshes your mind.Sometimes your oldmemory comes into your subconciousmind turn out as dreams.
