Well I imagine that as long as they are healthy organs and the person has consent I bet they already use their organs for donation. Now if you are saying without consent, absolutely not. I mean I recognize that those on death row do not have all the same liberties and freedoms that FREE Americans have. However, people have a right to the protection of their body. They have the right to what they want to happen to their body after they die. No matter what, that is a basic human right that shouldn't be taken away.

But as above poster said, you would have to start allowing condomns in prisons before you could even suggest such a thing.

No one should have to donate an organ that doesn't want to. If a person on death row does, should it be used? I expect that is would be used. Now I have read some interesting thing about people who got organ transplants, especially those who got a heart transplant. And they seem to pick up some of the traits of the person who gave them the organ. I don't think that science/medicine has progressed far enough to yet know that this could be a problem. If it were me and I had a choice between one that was and one that wasn't, I would choose the one that wasn't on death row. I think there is something to it. Bit scary.

I support organ donors and the death penalty; however we're dealing with a condemned person and out of respect I don't see the urgency of killing people for organs

No, but I'm against the death penalty all together. All human life is sacred. Unfortunately, even if people didn't have hepatitis or AIDS or other tragic illnesses when they entered prison, many will contract diseases there due to deplorable conditions and rape.

Finally, who knows how many innocent people have been condemmed.

NO!!!!!

You can't just take someone's organs without their consent. Death row, or not, they are people, and have rights. Who could possibly ask another human being to die just so they could live longer? I would rather die than to force someone else to die in my place. I'd like to believe that most people would agree with me.

Sounds like a good idea to me. They couldn't contribute anything positive to society while alive - why not when they are going to be put to death. Personally I think every person should be an organ donor.

I wouldn't freak on you. I'm intrigued by the idea. The government is paying for them to live in prison until they are executed anyway, so why not turn them into living organ banks? Sweet... Mind you, my country doesn't actually have the death penalty...interesting idea even so.

No, their bodies are permeated by evil and the recipient would die of penury.
