Since I've never really studied Islam I can't say, I am learning new things all the time....But I do know for a fact that Christianity views women as second class citizens.

This might be true in the teachings of the religion but it is typically not a part of the accepted practice of the religion, especially when that religion is the state or official religion. Strictly Islamic theocracies are HORRIBLE to the Women they govern, have turned them into the slaves of the men in their lives, and give them few rights, if any. While a religion or religious documents may teach one thing, it is usally quite another that becomes the adopted practice. Usually the religion is "interpreted" to allow this mistreatment of people who are not in the majority or who do not have political power themselves. Practically, both religions when adopted as the law of a certain land have treated Women worse than men, with some minor deviations. Whenever a religion is co-opted to govern the masses, one group or another typically becomes subservient.

Also, last time I checked, it was the woman's right to choose whether or not her husband can have a second wife. Islam does not treat women as second-class citizens. The Bible itself says that women "should not speak in church" and should ask their husbands about any questions later, when they go home.

Depends what neighborhood you live in Sweetie. In Saudi Arabia you couldn't drive a car, travel without your husbands permission, go to school with males or show your face in public. In Saudi a man can divorce his wife by reciting a few words, evict her from the home and take her children away from her and she has no legal recourse. If a Saudi woman is raped she is often blamed and punished for it. Admittedly Saudi Arabia is the extreme example but please don't gush about how liberated Muslim women are -- even Muslims go to hell for lying.

I don't mean to be disrespectful but it seems to me that even the way some muslim women dress suggests to me that they are oppresed like in Afghanistan the burka covers completely, and the fact that you always have to have the head covered, although some things are changing for muslim women I think that Christian women as a whole enjoy far more rights and freedoms than muslim women do.

To I-ponder:
In my native language, discipline means to advice. I don't know why the hell in english it means "Beat your wife".
Do you know how to speak Arab? No, shut up, it was a rethorical question.
Have you actually read the Qu'ran in it's original text? No, shut up, still rethorical.
The wife beating thing was originated when people compromised their religion for culture. They take one part culture(Beat wife) and one part religion(It was in the book....I think), and label the whole thing as Islam.
That's not Islam! If you add or remove anything it's not Islam anymore!
It's people like this who makes me sick :K
Peace out.

Really? I understand that in Islam if a husband wants to divorce his wife all he has to do is say: I divorce you four times and it is done.
No such right attaches to a wife.
I understand that in Islam all the children belong to the father and he has the right to keep the children from his wife, the mother of the children if that is his decision.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I find it very hard to believe you are a woman, much less a muslim woman posting this question. I think you are a Muslim man.
If you are a Muslim Woman, I feel very sorry for you.

Islam treats women like animals, that is not an opinion, its a fact.
Sex slaves are permitted:
Sura 4:24 Also (prohibited are) women already married, except those whom your right hands possess.
Sura 33:50 O Prophet! We have made lawful to thee thy wives to whom thou hast paid their dowers; and those **whom thy right hand possesses out of the prisoners of war** whom Allah has assigned to thee; and daughters of thy paternal uncles and aunts, and daughters of thy maternal uncles and aunts, who migrated (from Makka) with thee; and any believing woman who dedicates her soul to the Prophet if the Prophet wishes to wed her;- this only for thee, and not for the Believers (at large); We know what We have appointed for them as to their wives and the captives whom their right hands possess;- in order that there should be no difficulty for thee. And Allah is Oft- Forgiving, Most Merciful.
Men should have more rights than women:
Sura 2:228, And women shall have rights similar to the rights against them, according to what is equitable; but men have a degree (of advantage) over them
Women are deficient in intelligence:
The Hadith (Bukari vol. 1, no. 301)
Allah's apostle ... said "O women! Give alms as I have seen that the majority of the dwellers in hell-fire were you women....I have not seen anyone more deficient in intelligence and religion than you."
Women are property:
Sura 2:223 Your women are a tilt for you (to cultivate) so go to your tilt as ye will, and send (good deeds) before you for your souls, and fear Allah, and know that ye will (one day) meet Him. Give glad tidings to believers, (O Muhammad)
Permission for a muslim man to beat his wife if she doesnt obey him:
Sura 4:34: Men are the maintainers of women because Allah has made some of them to excel others and because they spend out of their property; the good women are therefore obedient, guarding the unseen as Allah has guarded; and (as to) those on whose part you fear desertion, admonish them, and leave them alone in their sleeping places and **beat them**; then if they obey you, do not seek a way against them; surely Allah is High, Great.
