Ugh...I know exactly the feeling you are describing. I get extremely light headed, lose my breath, my hands and feet start to get numb and I feel like I'm going to pass out. I always get right in bed so I won't be able to hit the floor should it actually happen = (

When I have a panic attack I usually have this really empty feeling or heavy feeling in my stomach. I always say it feels as if I can reach in there and pull it out but of course I can't. Then sometimes I feel as if I can't breathe or my face or lips are numb and I know I am having a panic attack but that doesn't seem to stop it. It is a terrible feeling to have a panic attack. I take 60 mgs of Paxil. I haven't had one in quite a while.

I don't get heaviness in the arms, but I do have panic/anxiety attacks, where I swear my heart is going to shoot directly out of my skin...Avoiding sugar and caffeine has helped somewhat, but they still catch me off-guard sometimes. I suspect it is because I'm a bit of a control freak, and tend to panic when I'm not in complete control. I've also learned to avoid triggers - for me, its night driving, and especially grocery stores. Too big, too bright, too much stimulation. I've tried Ativan, but it is addictive, and just makes me sleepy. You might ask your doctor about Enderal or propranolol - they're a low dose beta-blocker, which inhibits your flight or fight instinct and your adrenaline levels. (They prescribe this occasionally for concert pianists!) Anyway, it isn't addictive, and I find that when an attack is starting, 10mg usually helps significantly, without making me loopy. But it also lowers blood pressure, so definitely mention that to your doctor, if it is a concern to you. Hope I could help!

yes! I suffer from panic attacks also. When I get shocking news, or get really upset or something it happens to me. It has even happened when I have a bad dream, I wake up sweating and on the verge of a panic attack. Thankfully, I have learned to control them somewhat. I learned that they are mostly caused my a high rise of emotions at a time, and in order to avoid them I just breathe deeply, hold on to my husbands had, and try to get the bad thought out.

my husband gets panic attacks that effect him physically, he can't breathe, he is nausea. Recently they have gotten worse. His eye sight becomes blurred, he has migrane headaches, he has mini seizures and the doctors don't know what to do, he had a catscan and that showed up normal i think he is now going in for brain wave tests, They think it is to do with anxiety.

I do. It sucks. Sometimes I feel like I am going to pass out. I usually get them while I'm driving, especially at night. Go to a doctor. There is medication available. Zoloft worked good for me.

been there...
complicated issue really...
could you take time. journal some particular things.
these things would be patterns of behavior...especially behavior or actions that make you think hard on yourself...also, where feelings of guilt, shame or the old "I shoulda, woulda, coulda but didn't" remain...how you feel about you...and especially what you are holding onto....really imagine if you left it all behind...dropped everything you have...let it all fade away...you would still be! and yet, you loose nothing...the issue too, is what are you holding onto so strongly that the fear of loss is greater than your own sense of who you are?
