Generally shopkeepers do not accept credit card if the amount is lower than certain value. What is the minimum amount below which the shopkeepers do not accept credit card (or any other card)?

Generally there are no minimum charges but since the Merchants incur some transaction charges, they will put up a notice saying the minimum amount in their establishments. It generally vary between Rs. 100/- to 250/-.

Generally even we dont pay money for less amt. as in to buy some stuff of Rs. 100 or 200. But u can make payment from ur credit card for even lesser amt. Take for example if ur putting petrol in ur vehicle u can put for Rs. 10/ also.

if you are talkin about india, its Rs.100. Buat generally shopkeepers will frown if you use ur cc for this amount as they hv to incur some transaction fees which is not profitable for them!

Merchants can set a minimum, but most cards say it in those itty bitty books with all the writing in them that you get with the card. Generally $0.50, but I have seen as much as $1.50.

By law its supposed to be no minimum if you gave them a penny they should accept it althought they dont.

Alot of store where I live have a minimum of $5.00.

THIS IS A VIOLATION OF THE MERCHANT AGREEMENT THEY HAVE WITH VISA AND MASTERCARD.

You can call the 1-800- for either VISA or MASTERCARD (not your bank) and report them for the violation.
