hmm it seems theres a lot out there about this. all I know is if you sleep LESS you can gain weight because you will want to eat more for energy, etc. My parents always get mad at me when I sleep a long time because they say I will gain weight. However, it seems there are tons of people that like to sleep a lot and they arent fat so it just depends. It's like if you are sleeping you arent consuming calories but you aren't burning as much as if you are awake....

I'm not sure if a lack of sleep directly cause weight gain, but other side factors such as frequent eating when awake longer can be a factor. When you sleep, your metabolism kicks into high gear, making you to process food through your digestive tract quicker, which is why you feel so hungry in the morning and even sometimes after a light breakfast, because you're body is trying to catch up with the metabolic needs utilized during your sleep cycle. But as for sleeping directly related to weight gain or loss, I havn't heard of before. Hope this helps!

That is absolutely not true. Your body burns less calories when it is sleeping (because of inactivity) but you most certainly do not gain weight just for sleeping longer than your normal amount.

You can gain weight if your sleep is excessive, because you burn fewer calories when you sleep.
Don't forget to exercise when you're up.

No thats not true. Your stomach (because of breathing and moving up and down) actually has you loose some wait aroudn your waist. 2 inches or something like that. Especially for babys who breathe faster.
