Where can individuals go to report drivers blatantly ignoring the rules? red lights and merges. Had an idiot run me off the road today when they purposely cut me off.tag number I31LHR Florida just to get 1 car length ahead of me.Also, when are cell phones going to be made mandatory hands free, have had traffic issues with morons on cell phones holding up traffic and not caring. And have been seeing people blatantly running red lights after they have changed, no yellow mind you, they have a red and just run right thru it.

From the answers I see it is a widespread issue. For instance I work at a hospital and traffic fills the intersection under a red light that no vehicles emergency or otherwise can get thru. It is only a 2 lane road but they should be kept behind the line at the light.Does someone need to die before the police do their job?

Like the go to guy stated, a law enforcement officer has to witness the act to do anything, calling police on 911 is not a good idea as this ties up our emergency lines with non emergencies. Now if they create a accident please stay around and advise the officer with what you saw, other wise just give them more room and drive defensively not offensively.

In CA in June it will be mandatory hands free for cell phones. THANK GOD. Our highway patrol advises that people call in and report violators. What gets me is I was sitting at the main intersection in town waiting for the light to change, a city police car went through the intersection and turned left on a yellow light, with a semi obviously running the red light right behind him doing at least 60 mph. Other drivers were honking and pointing and the police officer just kept going on his merry way...

The problem is proving it. When we write tickets, we are sworn to tell the truth on issuance of a traffic ticket, it is already a complaint. For you to do this, you have to go to a police station and sign a complaint, etc. It is truly a hassle to do and you have to be able to ID the driver in most states. So, by the time you have jumped thru all these hoops, it is kind of not worth it.
If you are following a drunk driver, we can also catch up and see our own view of the violations and if the patrol car is so equipped, get them on tape or disc to use in court later.
It is a hassle for the average citizen to do their civic duty on traffic cases. They did show a Doctor who got tired of DUI deaths and goes out on patrol with a camcorder mounted on his dash and records the drunk drivers until the cops get there.
Of course, this is above and beyond what most citizens are willing to do and could expose you to potential backlash from the person you tape.
Good luck on this, if you want, become a cop like I did and give out tickets to the people doing this.

Look up the non-emergency numbers for your local police. As soon as something like that happens, pull over and call. Make sure you have as much detail as you can. Carry paper and a pen with you. Describe the vehicle, the driver, the location, the infraction, etc..

I see that some people suggested to call the police with as much info as possible- not the case in our small town- they'll laugh at you! The more info you have, the more they'll laugh that you've wasted so much energy. The police do not care about traffic/driving issues here, in particular people driving with their children in their laps or otherwise unrestrained- one of my major pet peeves. There are other issues I've heard of them responding to the same way. So hopefully someone suggests something more useful!

Yes. That's what other people are FOR. I do things at home. At the office, I'm all about being served. And I say that with two syllables - ser. ved. More regal that way.

You call the sheriffs dept. of the county that it happened in, and give them a description of what happened and the tag # and tell them that you want to file a report.

Maybe you should install a small video camera in your car like cops do so it would be easier to prove next time something like that happens.
