You just need to get on a regular sleep schedule. If you need 8 hours per night but only get 6, that's 10 hours in a work week that you are missing.
When the weekend comes, you need to sleep an average of 13 hours those nights to get caught up. And having a weird sleep schedule can make you feel blue.
To figure out how many hours of sleep you really need, go to bed at exactly the same time every night and let yourself sleep until you wake up naturally. The amount of time you sleep on the third night (the first 2 nights are to get straigtened out) is how many hours your body needs daily.

That doesn't really sound excessive but there are many other health problems that can cause fatigue such as thyroid problems, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, heart conditions, and many more. Thyroid problems can also cause you to feel depressed. I think if you would try to get at least 8-9 hours of sleep every night instead of what you are doing now things may even out and you might start to feel better. Also, many sleeping disorders such as sleep apnea and others can make you feel drowsy during the day. If you change your sleep patterns and things don't improve I would talk to my Dr.

Lack of physical activity can make a person overly tired, as well as too much sleep. If your job is one where you sit around alot and you don;t get out and do any amount of physical activity, you will tend to be more tired and have a lack of energy. Physical activity, such as a brisk walk will increaes your metabolism rate and help to give you more energy. Use the stairs instead of the elevator. Eat a balanced diet. When you get up, do some housework or something that requires you to be on your feet and moving about to get your day started on a good note. Depression can also cause you to be tired and lack motivation, walking is a very good therapy for depression too. A brisk walk around the block can do a lot to help lift your spirits. Hope this helps you.

Sleep is different for everyone but I do know that you only need 8 hours of sleep and if you feel that you need more than that then you should start exercising more because it will help you feel energized. That's the crappy thing about exercise, it makes you feel good and awake and I would feel better about not doing it if it made me feel like dookie. Anyways, sleeping too much can make you feel tired when you wake up so you really need to set an alarm and get up after 8 hours of sleep each night.

It may be that you need 8-9 hours of sleep a night, and you are getting over-tired and then need to catch up.
Also, you may be getting poor quality sleep. One culprit is sleep apnea. If you are very overweight, or have chronic congestion (like from allergies) you may be waking up several times a night and not even know it. Google "sleep apnea" and see if this might be you.
I really think the 6-8 hours is just not enough for you, tho, and you are playing catch up.

Your sleep schedule is not that excessive. You are probably just tired. Just try to sleep in on the weekends if at all possible and get at least 8 hours of sleep on weekdays when you have to go to work.
