Not exactly......you have to 1st settle under the drivers UM limits. If the value of your TOTAL claim exceeds the UM limits of the drivers policy, your insurance "may" pay out benefits at that time under your UM coverage (not Underinsured) after they offset the award you receive from the drivers policy. Also, if the driver of the vehicle you were in is even 1% at fault, you may be entitled to a bodily injury claim against the driver as well as the UM portion of the policy.

Underinsured motorist covers you in your car if you are hit by an at-fault driver who is inadequately insured to cover your injuries.

I don't think so but your medical payments can extend to another vehicle and even if you are a pedestrian
call your agent and ask, that's what they are there for
