There are tons of scholarships available out there with all different qualifying criteria. Some are based on ethnic background, talents, a project proposal, etc. You should talk to your guidance counselor and ask if the school has a book of scholarships. Some schools do. Also, the college that you're applying to might have a listing of scholarships on their site under financial aid. The library is a good place to check for resources also, as well as this website: http://www.finaid.org/scholarships/. Good luck.

There are plenty of scholarships out there! Believe it or not, I applied for a scholarship that is given to people just for being a girl! There are plenty of generic essays you can write for scholarships, too. Many will give you a question like "What can you do to improve your country? Write an essay in 500 words."

Since you say your teachers think you are the best in the class, maybe you have a shot at a Leadership Scholarship. I know there are some out there where you just have to write an essay.

There is a scholarship out there, also, if you read a book and write an essay on it.

As I said before, most people get scholarships from easy essays. Just search for them on the internet or ask your school guidance counseler about it.

By the way, I DO recommend getting involved in activities in and out of school. Otherwise, the scholarships will be meaningless because you won't make it into a college. Most people don't know that colleges care more about what the student does out of school than in it.

Good luck!

Absolutely. Go to the library. I know that popular culture believes that you can find more on the internet--but they tend to be wrong in this case. Ask your librarian about books of scholarships--and if you are in a good library there will be a whole shelf full of books. Good luck!

Um, if your grades and rank are average then how can you be the best?! It sounds like if you want a chance you'll have to study very hard.
