I don't understand how some people can do the things they do.Not feel any remorse. The need they feel to keep doing these things.Saw an interview with Jeffrey Dahmer and his dad.He started as a child, and his family sounded somewhat sane. Are they demons born as people?Where does this desire come from?Have their brains been studied?People that torture and kill children. How is this possible?

There are no true religious reasons for a serial killer. Numerous volumes have been written on the inner-workings of the serial killer mind. Therefore, I couldn't possibly do justice to answering your question here. However, if you are truly interested in this study, might I suggest that you begin by reading the stories of several different serial killers. This will help you to better understand that correlation between the nature verses nurture debate. It seems that some serial killers are born, and some are created. (For those who consider the U.S. to be such a moral nation, we, by far, produce more serial killers per capita than any other nation in the world.)

Bad USUALLY doesn't just surface in people.

Bad is something passed on from person to person.

Jeffrey Dahmer was sexually abused by his neighbor.

This abuse planted the seed of f*ckedupness.

And the goal of demonic spirits is to get stronger. And unless you control them (which you don't know how as a child) they will get stronger.

And often it is then too late for the adult.

All sin is possession. Low-level possession is taking place in all normal humans at all times. You and I are, in essence, possessed right now.

Because when you sin, you are giving a demonic spirit slight control over you. The more you sin the stronger they are.

That's why some people have a problem w/ lying or alcoholism. They nurtured that demon by continuing that specific sin and it grew strong.

Demons aren't born as people. They can only possess.

So the religious answer is a serial killers brains are like the ultimate brainwash by the devil.

I was born a liar, a cheat, and a thief. There was a time that I was a Satanist that I had pondered the perfect murder. All of this thinking was a result of little by little drowning out the voice of the Holy Spirit in my life until it didn't hurt any more. We start life with everything we need for existence. Then we start to pervert it right away. Sometimes it gets bent out of shape. Dahmer was real popular in High School as the creepy guy. There are a few of those "creepy guys" on R&S. If they were challenged enough we would have another Jeffrey Dalhmer on our hands.

strong opinions are felt from religion and science regarding this matter. Both make good arguments. There has been a great deal of studies and thoughts in understanding serial killers.

Some sociopaths and psychopaths commit their murders in the name of religion and use it to rationalize their behaviours.

- Hitler was a catholic (much catholic and protestant dogma promotes hatred toward jews, eg. Martin Luther's "The Jews And Their Lies)

- Dennis Rader (the BTK serial killer) was a prominent church member

- Robert Pickton wrote in letters that he killed the women "for god"
http://www.missingpeople.net/pickton_letters.htm

- J. Alcantar's claim that "god" wanted him to kill gay people

It really shouldn't surprise that there are many religiously-inspired murderers. Most of the extreme right wing are in favour of legalized state murder (aka the "death penalty"); to be in favour of killing people in that way requires a sociopathic tendency toward other human beings.

"Men never do evil so completely and cheerfully as when they do it from religious conviction."
- Blaise Pascal

"No man chooses evil because it is evil. He only mistakes it for happiness, the good he seeks."
- Mary Wollstonecraft

"With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion."
- unknown

Some people literally have no conscience. It's like that circuit of their brain shorted. They are sometimes called sociopaths, and it's sick and sad but just be glad you're not one of them.

scientific:
long ago, when we were cavemen, when part of our family slowed us down, we would kill them (for survival). as we got "domesticated" by technology, our instincts of "killing people" got messed up. i.e. a wolf can survive in the wild but a dog cant. so it got messed up so much that we now kill people for other reasons.
