i drink a lot, and i mean A Lot of soda pop in order to stay up and get everything i need to get done finished.. i drink it for the caffiene. however, i have gotten tolerant and addicted i guess, because now my body requires around 3 cans of soda in order to give me the boost of energy i need to stay awake. so is soda pop really Better for you than just drinking coffee? because i have heard that it is a lot better, which is why i choose to just drink the 3-4 cans necessary a night of pop to stay awake. but is this really that bad for my body.. and what sort of problems can it lead to? and can you die from drinking too much soda? any ideas on the whole soda thing would help immensely!!! thanks in advance!

Drinking too much soda will not kill you directly. It does pose a lot of other risks that may hurt you indirectly. The massive amounts of sugars in regular soda, and artificial sweeteners in diet sodas are known to cause kidney stones, which let me assure you are that most painful thing you can EVER experience.... including childbirth. Obesity, lethargy, and of course the physical dependence are all reasons to stop now. I never realized the horrible effects of caffeine until I had to stop drinking it during my pregnancy and then 9 months later drank one cup of normal coffee. Too much caffeine can really effect the heart and blood pressure also.

Soda is NOT healthier then coffee- it's loaded with sugars, and for the amount of caffeine you get in exchange it's not worth it. That's pretty much the reason people invented caffeinated coffee! You won't die just from drinking too much soda, but you certainly won't by living healthy, and it will be very difficult for you later in life. Caffeine doesn't 'wake you up,' or provide extra sleep for you: it just makes so it feels like you're more awake and alert. All the hours you are awake and not sleeping is harmful to your body. It's unhealthy for more then a *can* of soda a day of caffeine for a long period of time, and certainly three isn't at all healthy. So ditch the soda, at least for it's caffeine sources, and get some rest!

I'm not sure if you can die, but try this experiment. Place a steak or solid piece of meat in a bowl then pour a few cans of soda on it and let it sit. The coke will eat the meat up! This might help you decide whether you should cut back or not. There are other forms of caffeine.

I know you cant die from it.. I use to be a soda FREAK, working in the world of computers tends to make you that way. I know one thing... the acid in soda breaks down tooth enamel so if you drink soda excessively dont expect a nice smile in the near future... or at least some HEFTY dental bills lol trust me I'm paying an arm and leg to my dentist... sigh.
