Lately, I've been getting these...uncomfortable feelings in my chest. I think they're panic attacks but what do I know? >.> But they happen about five times a day, and they feel like some one is squeezing my lungs, I start to sweat and get more nervous then usual, checking over my back; normally feeling like a gun is being pointed at me... They last about...a minute if not shorter. I'm not sure if it has to do with my case of depression, or what? Help!

It sounds like anxiety attacks. I have the same problem. However, I'm not a doctor and most of the people online are not doctors either, so don't take our word for it. Go see a doctor just to make sure (I know the thought of that can cause an anxiety attack). Doctors have access to these wonderful, amazing, little pills called xanax. They help tremendously. If you've been diagnosed with depression, your doctor should be able to modify your medication to better help you. Depression and anxiety, unfortunately, make a pretty good team. It becomes a never-ending cycle that you really don't want to get mixed up in. You get anxiety which can cause depression and then your depression causes anxiety. It sucks!

There is a chance they are related. I suffered from a mild (but still painful and nearly incapacitating) form of depression called dysthymea, and I was attacked by these panic seizures every now and then. In them I felt I was gonna die of a heart attack or stroke, my chest feels tighter, I sweat and I have this overwhelming feeling that death is going to grip me any minute now. Then all of a sudden it just goes away. My advice: consult a psychcotherapist. It did it for me.

Your self diagnosis was correct you are experienceing panic attacks, not unusual in states of depression. You need to consult with your therapist if you have one to also get your medication reviewed. ou don;t say whether you are being treated for depression and your drug regime. Some drugs have panic attacks as side effects.

Panic attacks can do that, but it might be something else. Talk to your doctor.
