My female 2-year old cat urinates on the bed at least twice a week these days. Needless to say, this is disgusting. There are no other pets in the house and there haven't been any changes in the household. She normally uses her litter box faithfully but then suddenly goes ahead and pees on the bed. And for some reason, she does this in the evenings, she knows she's doing something wrong. Today, I just dunked her nose into the mess. I know that's not recommended, but I really don't know how to keep her away from this. Anyone have any suggestions?

Bladder infections will make a cat refuse the litterbox.
The pain of the infection will make them not want to go in the box. (cats instinctively hide pain, even from beloved owners)
Also, infection can make it impossible to "hold it" to get to the box. So, she could have been napping and woke up with an uncontrolable urge to go and couldn't make it to the box.
See a vet.
It's better to know for sure, than try to re-train her only to find that she's been in excruciating pain.

Dunking the nose in the mess is a common myth. It doesn't teach them about what they did wrong they just know that you are mad at them but don't know why. If she usually does this at nights, try putting her alone in the room where her litter box is. Be sure she is comfortable in there. If she starts using the litterbox regularly again slowly start to let her back into the house at night. My cat is now 5 but we always put him in this small room we had made for him until he was 2 or 3. It sort of becomes their own space were they can go to get away. I would suggest putting a bed, water/food, litterbox, and if she always slept in your bed, a blanket that you had on your bed so she can smell you. Good Luck!

P.S. If it doesn't improve soon take her to a vet. Take her now if she is acting differently at all besides the accidents. It is hard tell when a cat is sick! Better safe than sorry!

take her to the vet and characteristic her checked for cystitis or a bladder an infection -- the two will reason undesirable bathing room habit. One low-value element you may attempt is putting out a separate little field with a various style of muddle -- she would hate the muddle you're utilising now, or hate sharing a rest room with the different cats.
