First off, if you don't have a lot to spend then you should wait it out. You have to factor in that a puppy will need shots and possibly surgery that you will need to pay for.
If you've already factored that in then you're lucky in that boy dogs are usually cheaper but you're not going to be getting one at any pet shops at that amount, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. My sister got here 10lb pekingese at a breeder in PA for $250 and he's show quality but we both agree that he was the deal of the century, hehe. (He did, however, require emergency surgery a few weeks ago that cost another almost 400 dollars for a urinary tract infection, which is where the making sure you have money on hand comes in)
I'd say to go to a shelter or look up dogs online as there are many shelters who have their dogs listed on petfinder. Put in your search parameters and make sure you add rescue dog. Sometimes you can find puppies and sometimes you can't, but it's not really a decision you should rush into anyway so perhaps you can wait until you find the right one. Keep in mind that usually the adoption fees on puppies are a bit higher than on adult dogs though, $150-300ish.

It all depends. If you want a purebred, AKC-registered pup, it's very unlikely that you'll find one for less than $300, and that depends on the breed.

If you just want a cute pup with no pedigree and probably mixed breed, go to your local shelter! My own loveable bundle of chewing destruction came from the Humane Society, and their fee was $75. That included shots, spaying, a bag of food, and a coupon for a free vet visit.

For a little more money, but maybe still in your budget, you might contact a breed rescue. But those would mostly be older dogs. Don't discount older dogs, the advantage of being housebroken could really make up for missing the cute (but messy) puppy months.

Depends on what breed/ and how much the dog is worth.
You can get a very good dog at that price or around it.
Check the adds in the paper, and other places with adds.

Hope you find a "cute puppy" !

I saw my youngest dog on petfinder.com and I adopted him from the shelter he was in for $100. Mixed breeds are every bit as wonderful as purebreeds ( I also have a lab). If you decide on a specific breed you can also check into that particular breeds local rescue organization. Do some research on different breeds and get and idea of which breeds will best suit your life then go from there.

There are a lot of cute pups in animal shelters around the country. The adoption fee covers shots and spay/neuter. Money well spent.

They are usually under $100 at a shelter. They need homes bad and are cute and less money for all the personality!!!

Go to your local shelter. They have lots of cute dogs, wanting good homes. Our shelters charge about $100, which is very reasonable considering that includes shots, spay or neutering, chips, and flea and heartworm prevention. Remember, the pup/dog adopts YOU, you don't adopt them!

Depends on the breed. You can adopt a puppy at your local shelter for about $100.00, but will not be a pure bred pup.

well depends on breed. You want a smart dog, border collies are the #1 smartest followed by standard poodles....you also want to research a breeder so make sure it hasnt been inbreed.and make sure the breeder has a pedigree they can give you.
between 500-2000 dollars
