The United States government does not encourage mass immigration, although it does permit a fairly small number of people to immigrate each year.
Current tax law allow parents a tax deduction for minor dependents, so in a sense the government encourages families. Of course, the tax deduction comes no where near the cost of raising a child.
The U.S. government has no official policy on encouraging or discouraging population growth. However, the Bush Administration has pushed for an end to government-sponsored abortions and birth control.

Why do you want the government in your bedroom? I don't want the government having anymore control over my life than they already have. I think with the increasing amount of illegal immigrants not just from Mexico but from all the other countries that find are border so easy to cross come here to have babies so they can become citizens easier. Its put a terrible financial burden on the average working American. We have to keep building schools, not to mention our medical expenses, its a down hill spirial. Another thing that hurts is that the Illegals are sending there money back home, its not being put back into our economy. So they have the best of both worlds, they come here get everything they can for free, send money back to there homeland and we pay for it all. That's the facts jack.

The government shouldn't be involved at all in deciding how many children we have. It is abortion of so many children that has really impacted our population and may be why our government doesn't want to implement our immigration laws....and government leaders
who want global everything. Millions of our future scientists, writers, inventors, etc. have died because of abortion. And it is our country that is already paying the price for that.
Personally....I love having a big family...they are a blessing to those who are willing to raise them right.
And mothers can work and raise their children, but the children must come first. It is also our taxes that have caused many mothers to have to work. And our government leaders want to ignore that.

I do not believe the government ever told us how many children we could or could not have. The problem is no one is recognizing the children we have in this country battered abused and starving babies children living in cars aids babies. The majority of the children live in a children's shelter. I would like to ask every politician if they have ever been in a children's SHELTER the answer would most likely be no. But we as citizens voted then into office. And as far as immigration anyone that would love the American way of life should have the opportunity to come to America legally, learn to speak English. That is not much to ask to be able to share the American way of life because it is like no other.

The problem is not having enough kids, but raising the kids we have to has a sense of pride and work for a living, not depend on others to take care of them.

The USA has it in their minds that more people will allow them to compete with the likes of China. China is our mortal combatant at the moment on the issue of productivity and what will hopefully be a future filled with better things. The Chinese have us whipped coming and going. They, to their great benefit, have limited population that was causing a huge problem for them in the not too distant past.
Our country , USA is doubling in size every 10 years. This is due to immigrant entry. Legal immigrant entry. Add to that the 10-20 million illegals and the demise they do.
Currently the USA cannot handle the numbers of people that it has on the first world level we all expect to live on/at. All that can happen if more people come to the USA, is a demise in the lifestyle and opportunities for most people. Larg corporate merchants will grasp large financial draws on the ongoing influx of consumers but the rest of us will suffer for lack of education for our children, lack of social structure foundations of care such as health care, financial aid and we will suffer huge losses to the influx of damage due to criminality caused by the influx of people who are mostly poverty stricken compared to the average American.
IT is clear to me, that there are too many people on the planet as a whole. Global warming is a result of this in one case. Catastrphic diseases like Hep. C and AIDS are several other indicators of populations gone far astray in numbers. It's natures way of limiting larg poplulations that can't be supported by their environments
It is unpopular to suggest this but it needs to be said and planning needs to take place to ensure that we have sufficient resources BEFORE we have too many people. This is not being done. People continue to think that they can make as many babies as they can pop out. Particularly immigrants from poorer culturers who know no better.
We don't need more kids, we need less immigrants and those who we allow into our country should be carefully screened so tha they might more likely contribute greatly to our society and to life on the planet rather than to creat detriment and demise by simply coming to a land of plenty and dropping all concern and pumpin our populations that cannot be supported.
To do other wise will be the end of us.

We don't have a population shortage. We have too many kids without parents, that's for sure. What does having more kids have to do with immigration?
And for the person that stated to send illegals back to Mexico. You are ignorant, you should do a little research on illegals, they are not all Mexican, some are Asian, Romanian, Irish, Peruvian, Costa Rican, need I go on?? get the point? Sorry, ignorance aggrevates me.

Well that would be a better idea. It would be better for America. But, most people in the US can't support the kids they have. Also, we are taxed death every year to support these law breakers, which further hurts our ability to raise our families.
People that are responsible for themselves and their families also have to support the millions of slackers in this country legal and illegal that refuse to be responsible and self sufficient
