I'm sorry to tell you this, but it means you don't really know what you're talking about and shouldn't have said whatever it was that you said. think about it. "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool" - It is better to not say anything and have people think that they are fooling you - or pulling the wool over your eyes... "than to speak out and remove all doubt." - Then to say what you think and have everyone think you're a fool (an idiot) because you had no idea what you were talking about... and you just proved it with what you said.
