i want to know if there is a way i can fix this social problem or not. a few pieces of information is that when i first got him[as a puppy], another dog [that a family friend owns] would sort of try to play/attack him. my dog is neutered, and is currently 3 years old. also, he is only really aggressive to other males, but when he meets a female, he is nice and gentle. thank you in advance for answering my question. =]

well, he mainly protects my mother, as he's really close to her, but in general, regardless of who's walking him, he will bark and try to run to another dog

I think his aggressions need to be studied. I would work with an animal behavior specialist. He should be socialized away from the home for starters. I raised many beagles over the years and sadly, I had to remove one of my males because he always picked fights with the old guy.

He was a fabulous dog otherwise, but we could not break this.

Your dog is just a super little dude that knows that he has a good thing going and he dang well doesn't want any other dude stepping in and messing it all up--- he is cool enough with the ladies though because it may be neutered but-- he isn't dead !!!
Sounds to me like you've got a superb little guy that is in total control of the way he wants it !!

maby the dog is being protective of you but it isnt on common for dogs to be gentel with feamels. I have an idea my god mother has an dog how was abused as a puppy and she got her in lots of dog groups i now your dog wasnt abused but maby getting it in social groups will help.

I would get a muzzle to start and then take him to a dog park with the muzzle on and go from there. Praise him for good behavior and disipline him for bad unwanted behavior.
