I am extremely slow and do about one mile in 14 minutes, if lucky. I really need help, so if someone can tell me how much i should do everyday to get faster. My goal is to get to a mile in 8 minutes, and move on from there.

The easiest way to increase aerobic capacity is to use interval training. Walk for a bit, then run fast, then walk, then run again...increase the ratio of running to walking over sucessive workouts.

1. Plan on taking at least a few months to acheive your goal. Progressing faster will increase the chance of something hurting.

2. If you are just getting started, take a month and just walk for at least 30+ minutes 4-6 days a week.

3. If you are overweight, losing some of the excess will greatly increase your aerobic capacity.

4. Walk for at least 5-10 minutes as a warm-up before running.

5. Pick a distance so your run/walk workout time is 20-30 minutes.

6. When you run, run faster then you do now, catch your breath when you are walking.

7. Gradually increase the ratio of running to walking over several months. You may start out running for 20 seconds then walking for 60, fine. Work up from there. Good Luck. :)

wow i can run 2.5 miles in 14 min. in order to be able to run fast you have to have a low amount of body fat and basically have to be in shape, when i started out i was just like you but now that im in a great shape(5'3 100lb) i run without difficulty. just get your ipod out and turn on some fast music and itll make you run faster.

Get someone to be your pacer. They run with you and keep just that little bit ahead so you can get an idea of how your progessing.
Or stir up a Donberman and run like hell

U should run in school ovel Or in school Basketball court to improve Ur running and that way u can run faster.
