We don't really have a symbol, but we put a golden Angel Moroni on all of our temples. Angel Moroni was the one who told Joseph Smith, our first prophet, where the Golden plates were hidden and what he needed to do with them.
any more questions, girl_in_the_band89@yahoo.com, you know what to do!!

There's a lot of things that could symoblize the "Mormon" church, things that others see that remind them of us-
Statues of the Angel Moroni on our temples- Moroni was an ancient prophet/historian. He was the last writer in the Book of Mormon which was named after his father.
Our temples- We build temples as sacred places of worship. It's where we can go to pray for extra guidance in our lives. We also are able to do proxy salvation work for the dead. No, they are not forced to accept this work- but when we do it, the option becomes available to them.
The Book of Mormon- Compiled by Mormon, hidden by his son Moroni, translated by Joseph Smith... It stands by the Bible as a second testimony that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world and the Redeemer of mankind.
The Beehive- Early in the days of the LDS church, the beehive became our symobl for industry- using our time, tallents, resources to make the best of any given situation. This is also one of the symbols of Utah, where most are LDS.
But, I think the truest symbol of the LDS church is the Living Christ. Yes, He paid for all our sins and died for us, but His greatest miracle is that He rose from the dead.
He's not dead anymore. All the great things He's done for us- they were done while He was alive- either the first time, or since His Resurrection.
I really think that's the gist of the Gospel of Jesus Christ- that even though we're imperfect and flawed, through our best efforts and His gift, we can be perfect and return to God.

I am not mormon but I lived in Utah and I know they have the inverted pentegram on their Salt Lake Temple. Many of their symbols are adoped from the Masons, and satanist. As to why they use these symbols I don't know. So I'm sorry I can't help you there.

I don't think that Mormonism has just one symbol but many for different things. For me the symbol that comes to mind for Mormonism is the Temple itself.
The Beehive according http://www.utahtravelcenter.com/stateinformation/statesymbols.htm "The beehive is one of the most enduring Mormon symbols, as it was mentioned in the Book of Mormon: "And they did also carry with them deseret, which by interpretation, is a honey bee; and thus they did carry with them swarms of bees" (Ether 2:3)" The beehive is also the Utah state emblem.

We don't have one. Some of our temples do have the Angel Moroni on top, but not all of them. We don't use symbols in our church. We believe that using symbols is another form of idol worship, or paying more attention to someone other then God and Christ.

They also have three poles in front of the church to represent God, Christ, and the Holy Spirit. They don't use the cross as they feel it focuses on his death while they want to focus on the good things in his life and his resurrection.
Of course, that was about 15 years ago since I've been in a Mormon church...so I may be mixed up at this point.
