Like the previous people stated it was 1945.. But we were a member of the League of Nations . When WW2 broke out the league of nations fell apart as they had failed to do their job... which was prevent world war... I see the UN meeting a similar demise..

On June 26, 1945 - The charter of the United Nations was signed by 50 countries in San Francisco. President Truman signed for the United States.

OnJuly 28, 1945 - , in accordance with the US Constitution, the United States became a member officially, when the U.S. Senate ratified the treaty that established the United Nations Charter by a vote of 89-2.

The United States took its seat in the United Nations on its first meeting in October 24, 1945.

Right after WW2 the United States helped create the UN and became a permanent member with the rest of the allied powers

First UN meeting with US and allies is April 26th,1945. UN charter signed June 26th, 1945. UN comes into existence October 24th, 1945.
