Right now He's busy mobilizing the Republican party to protect stem cells from murder.

Nuns can't marry.

I think it depends on what is going on, but as a Mormon I think sometimes it depends on adults' free agency. If they persist in engaging in behavior which causes the death of a child, then their behavior can be judged in the Final Judgment on a different level from those who would never even think of harming a child. There was a really nasty case here in Utah just a few months ago of a young girl being terribly abused and locked in a closet, where she died. You would have to think the adults involved had some kind of character weakness to persist in behavior that would end in the death of a child, and that character weakness was not being addressed in their current style of living. I'm sure the girl's spirit went straight to the Paradise side of the spirit world, but the adults who stayed behind have a serious process of repentance to work through for a long time now, if they choose to do so. I have often thought that children who have been murdered would possibly have not met the person they were going to marry later on, perhaps because that person had already died as well. However, until the Second Coming of Jesus Christ and the Resurrection, we will not know for sure. All of the truly awful things that happen to children in the world are a sure sign that Satan and his followers are working overtime on people to try to slow down the progress the world is making towards the Second Coming. I guess the death of every child makes the heart of everyone around them wonder what the purpose of life is, and why life ends so young, when it seems that the person was so bright and full of potential.

This can be approached several ways, but that would take me too long to go through.

The most general, and least satisfying answer is this: that the child dying was in His plan for some divine purpose.

Now, this can be approached, generally, from two points of view: that of absolute free will, and that of no free will. In absolute free will, man has free will and God has control over the situation at all times- he also possesses 'foreknowledge' of all time. In the view that man has no free will, there is only the will of God, and we are all 'predestined' to do certain things.

As I said before, it would take me too long to explain the logic and backing for each of the above. You must realise this though: the murderer killed the child, not God. Man did this through an active rejection of God (what is called sin). It might be argued that God said 'you, kill him', but that is not my thinking; I would say that God knew that the man was going to kill the child, but he is going to use the death of the child for his glory.

I don't know if that provided you with what you wanted- I am not really a religious expert. If any of this spurs additional thought, pose the same question to a pastor- they may or may not have the question.

God doesn't view death the same way we do. For a child death is being with God for eternity.

Maybe that child's life would have been very painful and difficult.
There is an example in the Old Testament where God allows a child of Jeroboam to die and when asked why he explains that he was the only son with good in him and he didn't want him to go through the pain and suffering the other sons would go through.

We all die sometime, some young, some old. Death, pain and suffering is a part of life because of the original sin and most of our suffering are a result of our current sins, including murder.

It wasn't God's original intention and it is not his current intention.
That is why we have the teachings of Christ that teach us to love not murder.

You're asking out of belief in God or lack of belief? Do you disbelieve in God because of evil in the world? If the presence of evil in the world indicates that there is no God, then why ask why the God that you don't believe exists doesn't intervene?

If you believe in the God whom the question infers that you may believe in then you don't know him that well or you would believe that he is who he says he is in the bible and that he is a just and holy God who loves sinful and ungodly people so much that he died on a cruel cross to save them from sin and that by faith and surrender to him they can love him too, despite the evil in the world.

or starved? or abused? etc.
I really don't know. I have asked Him. I trust Him, but I don't always understand His ways.
I just spent a few days in a third world country with children who have been starved, abused in all ways, who have seen murder among their family members, etc. I really do not understand. The fault is not God's, it is man's. But I sure would wish that God would intervene. He will soome day, and I can only suppose those children who are dead are now better off and that those who mistreated them will be severely judged.
That does not answer the question, I know. Frankly I do not expect anyone to come up with an answer.

Should God intervene when you are overeating? If God intervened in everything that man does, we would be no different from domesticated animals. We were created with a free will. God gave us this freedom so that he will know who truly loves him.
I avoid trying to do something bad; not because I fear God's punishment, but because I love him and want to please him.
Peace and every blessing!

For the same reason a fairy doesn't leave money under the pillow when children lose their baby teeth. It doesn't exist.

There is no all powerful God. No being would allow the horror and evil that occurs in the world to continue if it could stop it. To stand by and watch it happen is evil.
The Bible is drivel written by men. If it was a divine book, why isn't the cure for cancer there or the recipe for rocket fuel? Why didn't it foretell science and technology? Let's face it, the Bible is a scam that priests and preachers use to control weak gullible people.

Who knows? Only God knows why He doesn't intervene on certain things. Sometimes when you're painting a complete picture, you have to use some dark colors. The better question is, why do people feel the need to murder at all.

God is like this giant genie, running around like Superman .No body gets hurt ,no body gets sick, nobody dies.Hitler goes to heaven,Stalin takes St. Peter's job and all is hunky-dory.
The fact is we live in a cursed creation and it will stay that way until Jesus returns. And even after that, after a 1000 year period,Satan will try one more time to corrupt man and this time lose for eternity. Then things will be set straight. But remember,as awful as it is for an innocent to die, once dead they are in the prescence of the Lord and at peace until the resurrection.I know it sounds simple but it is true.Believe me ,I'm a hard boiled Ol' dude. Not some namby-pamby.
