i have a question..... i have 0 dependants and was wondering if people with more dependants get more in their tax returns than people with less and if they get more money deducted in their paycheck...... i was wondering if you can put yourself as a dependant// thanks

No, you cannot claim yourself as a dependent. As a person gets more dependents, they can reduce the amount they have withheld, so their take home pay is larger. This is consistent since as a person has to support more people, they spend more as well.

If two people made the same salary and had the same amount withheld, but one had three dependents and the other had none, then the one with the dependents would get a bigger refund.

You don't claim yourself as a dependent. But unless you are a dependent of someone else, you get an exemption of $3300 on your return for yourself just like you get for a dependent.
