Secular humanism is a humanist philosophy that upholds reason, ethics, and justice, and specifically rejects the supernatural and the spiritual as warrants of moral reflection and decision-making. Like other types of humanism, secular humanism is a life stance or a praxis focusing on the way human beings can lead good and happy lives (eupraxsophy). The term was coined in the 20th century to make a clear distinction from "religious humanism". A related concept is scientific humanism, which the biologist Edward O. Wilson claimed to be "the only worldview compatible with science's growing knowledge of the real world and the laws of nature".

“Secular humanism” is one of the largest ‘post-modern religions’ in America today and is growing around the world. It is a relativistic belief system that is tolerant toward all other forms of relativism but not towards any of the “absolute” belief systems, and especially Christianity. The emphasis, or ‘object of faith’, is humanity (a humanity that doesn’t need God or religion). This belief in morality without a belief in a personal God was described by the Apostle Paul when he said, “..[they] having a form of Godliness, but denying the power thereof.”.
Secular humanism has a high value for ‘morality’. But, it is a morality that is based upon the ‘relative’ good done for humanity, not what may be pleasing to God or in any absolute sense or right or wrong. Secular humanists do not include ‘unborn’ babies in their definition of ‘humanity’, by the way. Disposing of an unborn baby is acceptable (though maybe not preferable) because the ‘relative’ value of the ‘choice’ of the mother is higher than the value of the unborn child. In this same manner, secular humanist, believe that euthanasia is a good thing because it emphasizes the relative value of human life (low value when the person is dying or suffering) over the “absolute” value for human life that Christianity holds.

whilst i'm able to't consider a blanket fact that maximum atheists understand extra approximately Christianity than Christians, i'd agree that some (or many) Christians have self assurance via faith on my own, and could no longer see the non secular texts in an impartial view. From very own adventure, it style of feels that some Christians are afraid that non secular analyze of extremely some religions would desire to alter or shake their faith--so as that they stay away from it. they'd additionally stay away from annoying circumstances to their ideals via claiming that their presuppositions of the Bible negate any historic information that would regulate the fact and fact of the texts. i think of that is truly important to be nicely examine and knowledgeable on the historic past and historic previous of Christianity. If people can no longer cope with the fact of the Bible (as an occasion, pseudoepigraphical texts) then they'd would desire to re-examine their faith interior the 1st place.

Humanism in itself is not negative. It is recognizing the power of humanity. The Bible is in agreement with that when it says that God created man in HIs image (in the text the Bible is referring to both man and woman). When we say secular humanism, however, I think we are referring to a kind of humanism that excludes God. If that is what one is referring to, then I would say it is negative, because it refers to man's conceit, denying his own creator.
So, humanism, - yes (even though some fellow believers seem to think it means Godlessness, they are mistaken). But secular humanism, if my understanding of the term is correct, then I would say no.

It is merely following modern culture, it's a combination of human philosophy and the changing times. It is not looking to anything higher than ourselves for guidance in answers to our questions. Considering the quality of life on this planet....I wouldn't say it works so well......
