Could be a number of things.

1. Bad Gas
2. Fuel Pump
3. Missing
4. Alot of Ford's are hard start like that in the winter, especially older models.
5. Time for a tune up
6. Something electrical

I would suggest first trying the least expensive option of putting some gas treatment in then running a tank of premium gas. If that fixes it, there was probably condensation in the gas lines or you just got some crappy gas. If it doesn't, Auto Zone can hook it up to a machine that will check your battery and alternator and what not. It can at least point you in the right direction, and they do it for free. :o)

My old car was a '95 jeep grand cherokee. she used to do the same thing at almost every stop light or traffic until I took it in. turns out my transmission was going out. Especially in idle, it would shake like crazy for up to 5 seconds at a time. Now that I own a stick, i can tell you that when a car doesnt shift correctly from gear to gear, it will shake a bit. as for the fuel pump, i recently got mine replaced for a measly 800 bucks. :(
But my current car would whine and squeal every time I drove under 35 mph. If that's the case, it just might be the fuel pump. typically the pulley (which breaks most often) will rub against the belt, creating a whining noise.

Could be a fuel pump. How old is your car and how many miles?

Make sure all electrical connections are tight and not corroded.

Check your spark plugs to make sure they are in good condition

if it lurched and was hard to brake it sounds more like a vaccum leak, mainly to the brake booster. check the hose, check valve, and listen for a hissing noise coming from the booster with the car running. hope this helps

from the sounds of it you need a tune up start with the cap rotor plugs and wires.and fuel filter
