I don't know if there are any instruments that are really that easy. Maybe the piano or the bongos or the triangle or the maracas. -L

Both are difficult to master, but I think the easiest instruments to play for fun are the piano and the tin whistle. Once you learn the basics on whistle, you can get an Irish low whistle, and they sound awesome!

All instruments are difficult to play well. There isn't necessarily on e that is the easiest. The most difficult instrument is the Harp.

Depends on your intent - are you learning the instrument for fun? How much time are you willing, or likely, to spend on it? A very generalized guide would be this:
Wind instruments are hard to pick up but easy to master.
String instruments are so-so all the way. Note that the cello and double bass need lots of physical strength.
The piano is easy to pick up but hard to master.

Voice is probably the easiest to learn because most people can already sing. Being any good at on the other hand is very difficult

Piano. Even a 4 year old can start piano. Other instruments that start kids very young are violin, cello and percussion.
Other instruments usually start after 9 years old.

The best answer for you is this, what are you most interested in? I personally can pick up a stringed insturment and play and sound good after a few minutes even if I've never touched that insturment before. This is because I've been a guitarist for years. Percussion is the hardest for me. Play the insturment you want to play, your most likely to stick with it. If its stringed, you'll be pretty much able to easily transfer your knowlege to any other stringed insturment, and same for wind insturments.

probably a recorder i learned that in 3rd grad and its easy and fun! I even taught my 5 year old brother how to play and she learned it the 3rd day!
