serious conversation with me. I'm twice his age. I'm in my 40's and him in his twenties. We had a lot of eye contact during the conversation. I told him my age. I thought he needed to know. We been flirting with each other for god knows how long now. I know he's been dying to know how old I was but was afraid to ask. Was I wrong in telling him so soon? I'm kicking myself for doing it.

You should not be kicking yourself for telling the truth. If he's interested, the age difference won't be an issue. If it is an issue, better that he knows the truth up front.

If you want to get serious with this person he is going to have to find out our age eventually so it is better to be up front about it.
