Humans are capable of so much they no longer need to make up or force themselves to believe the myths that our ancient ancestors used to comfort and control themselves from forces that were out of their control.

I wonder if humanity will ever be able to create a civil society that truly accepts and appreciates itself.

I suspect that people worshiping their own achievements and abilities would be kind of a downer. Have you ever met a guy at a party who takes the time to explain exactly how great he is. Now, imagine that multiplied by a couple thousand. That's the kind of religion that would make me want to sleep in on Sundays!

And, you know, if you think Theology and religion were all made up anyway, aren't all religions kind of worshiping man's accomplishments already?

You may believe that humans have evolved that far, but have they really? Benjamin Franklin was a Deist, yet he endorsed the Christian religion because he felt that the masses needed the punishment/ reward system as a method of controlling behavior.

More people may be beyond that today than in his day, but there are still many who need that punishment/ reward system to behave.

I have talked to many people who say that if it wasn't for the moral teachings of Christianity that there would be nothing stopping us from killing each other. Do you really want people who think this way to be without their religious check?

The religion that celebrates humanity is Christianity. I mean God the creator loved humanity so much he became a man!

Such a religion already exists. It's called Paganism. While we use the myths to teach, we recognize the importance of accepting humanity as an amazing, complex creation.

Humanity is evil at heart.
How can it create anything
civil. You know how corrupt
the world is. That is like saying
that some day evil will do Good.
God has the answers, not humanity.

I believe that would be called, secular humanism.

More of a belief system than a religion though.

Secular Humanism embraces and celebrates humanity. It's sort of a religion. Well...more of a philosophy, but still. :)
