I've been married for a while, but we're getting a divorce. The dating scene is completely foreign to me. I like the idea of meeting someone at church, since it would be more likely that we would have similar values if we met at church. I also have a daughter, so I want to be extra careful to find someone who will treat her good. Is it somehow weird to try to get a date at church?

I'm not looking to date yet, but I'm wondering about finding someone. I'm in a totally different place in my life than I was the last time I was single.

Also, it looks like I'm going to have my daughter 50% of the time, so that leaves a good amount of time open for me to spend with someone when my daughter isn't around to have to deal with it.

Of course not, you are right, it is good to find someone that you relate to on spiritual levels. On the other hand, if you are "getting" a divorce, it seems a bit too early to be getting into the "dating scene" (especially with a daughter). But later on, when it is appropriate for you to be looking again, I suggest that you start at church, just take it slow with him/her.

No, not at all. That is a perfect way to find someone in a community that you can get to know. Some churches have singles groups where they do activities such as bowling, or whatever. I think it is a great idea to start their. It's not weird, it's a very good idea in fact. And you guys will both be of the same faith, you got one thing in common their. But don't just zero in on that, broaden your horizon as well.

I wouldn't recommend going to church with the idea of looking for a date. That's just wrong in my opinion. Some churches host singles events. Or, there are christian dating web sites. There are also chat rooms, I guess.

I think that you should take some time to yourself before getting back into the dating scene and you should definitely wait until your divorce is final before you start looking for another person.

Well, if you go to church for the sole reason of scoping out a guy, that's kind of weird. I certainly wouldn't tell anyone there about it!
