Don't have any chips, chocolate or other bad things in your house. Get some fresh veggies and fruits, already cut up if you are that short on time. If you think you have time to eat some junk, you have time to exercize longer. When you feel the urge to eat junk, go walk up and down the stairs a few times, or walk around the block. If you are trying to lose 20 pounds, 2000 calories a day is on the high side. Hopefully you're not just eating 3 large meals a day. It's better to eat smaller meals, then have healthy snacks during the day. I don't know how long a time frame you have, but just keep thinking about how much happier you will feel when you are at your ideal weight on your return to America, just in time to get a few new outfits and be in much better shape!

Having a busy schedule and little time is an excuse, not a reason for eating right or wrong.
You have gotten into a bad habit of eating wrong, now you have to eat right and fix that. It take 30 days to break habits. I suggest you not worry about the calories, but just eat right and exercise.
First, eat lean meats like broiled chicken and fish. Veggies and fruits. Drink water. Sodas hold in fat and are very bad for you. Juice is something you need to cut with water, it has a high sugar content, even though it is natural, it is still sugar.
Don't put added stress on you by thinking you have to lose this weight by a certain date that is coming soon. That will sabotage you for sure.
You need to be healthy, not just lose weight, that is the right way to do this. It is a lifestyle change.

do not count calories, get a meter that counts steps and try to take 10.000 steps a day.You can work up to this and it really helps.flavor your water with juice, not much. Eat all you want of steamed veggies and snack on celery and raw carrots. If you always have a low calorie snack it will help you. For your sweets have a handful of raisins and nuts.Eat a big teaspoon of peanut butter once a day. When you have been really good reward yourself with square of Hershey's very dark chocolate bar. Put just a little half and half in your morning coffee,Eat instant oatmeal with no milk for breakfast,This takes time ,but you will lose!Eat a four oz. steak three times a week. Take the step count .since you cannot exercise it will make up for it ! good Luck

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has developed a chart to help people find their specific calorie needs, which can be found online at www.mypyramid.gov/pyramid/discretionary_calories_amount.html
According to the formula, a 25-year-old man who exercises 30 to 60 minutes every day with moderate or vigorous activity should eat about 2,800 calories a day, while a sedentary 65-year-old woman needs just 1,600 calories. An active 45-year-old man needs 2,600 calories, while an active woman of the same age needs 2,000 (also for 30 to 60 minutes of exercise each day).

Don't try to look at the calories so much: look at the grams of fat, it makes it so much simpler. As a woman, I think you can have something around 60 grams of fat during a day, and for a man its about 65 grams of fat. I have been on this type of diet for about a month, and already lost 10 pounds. Also, dont keep the chips and chocolate around your house if it's that much of a temptation. Certain soups are a good thing to eat, because they are very low in fat.
GOOD LUCK!

eating under 1600 calories will be better. you'll have to cut back on all carbs, and high caloric foods. doing more in the way of exercise, such as walking up and down stairs, around the room, ouside etc will help, but unless it becomes a daily regimen, it's not going to do a great deal other than maintaining your weight. as for not having time, you have to make time, preferably at the same time every day.

You need to figure out how many calories you burn a day and then eat fewer than that.
a 3500 calorie defecit will produce 1 lb. of weight loss.
For me, personally, I have a desk job. And at my weight, sitting all day burns about 2000 calories. So, I eat no more than 1500 calories a day, which is a defecit of 3500 calories a week - and it's been working.
google things like "calorie burning calculator" to find out how many calories you burn a day.
