A dog kennel should be tall enough for the dog to stand up right without touching the top, wide enough for it to turn around in and long enough that it has room to lay down. You want your pet to be contained but comfortable.

It would depend on what size dog you have. I would recommend at least a 10'X10' chain link kennel. It would also be advisable for you to reinforce the area where the chain link meets the frame around the bottom of the pen. I personally use plastic zip ties or hose clamps. If your dog is going to get free of the pen, this will be the location of his/her escape. If you could tell me more about your dog, I could be of more help.
Best Wishes!

Buy one that will fit him as an adult. You can 'cozy' up the extra space with pillows/towels, etc. while he's small. Some people buy several while the dog is growing but it means your puppy has to get used to a new bed everytime you change. Better for you both to just get one. Dogs love their kennels! Home sweet home.

If you mean kennel, as in "crate", then you need one that is big enough for the dog to lie down comfortably, sit comfortably (height wise) and be able to turn around while inside. That's it.
If you mean kennel, as in "fence enclosure", I have no idea. Don't know what kind of dog we are talking about, either.

you should get a kennel that is big enough for your dog to turn around without any problem and tall enough for your dog to stand comfortable. in other words look around at kennels, make sure it will be big enough, as your dog grows
